[OPEN] Let's experiment on the experiment...ers.

WHO: Tsuruno Yui ([personal profile] fanstheflames), ([personal profile] strongroots), and YOU.
WHAT: Spreading word about the experiment
WHERE: Around the City! Outside your apartment, in your face-- But also a portion of it at the Welcome Diner
WHEN: From early October to before the City event on the 19th!
WARNINGS: None!

[ PROMPT 1: FOR BUMPING INTO, BE BUMPED INTO! ]

There's a pair on a mission--and hopefully, a pair capable of wrangling some of their friends to join in on sharing out some fliers they've made for an experiment. But as it is, you may meet this pair when they knock at the door of where you're staying, or while you're out on the streets! Each with a friendly face, from the boy's calm nod and "Hey--you got a minute?" or the girl's [description here].

Or you've escaped meeting them in person, but found their flier slipped under the door of where you're staying. And on it reads...

PLEASE READ!
A group of us want to hold an experiment on how the city will react if we don't go to a new location immediately or any event it runs. The newsletter they gave out mentioned a Halloween party, and the report in the office also mentioned a test running from the 19th to 31st of October.

What happens if we run our own party in this timeframe? What happens if we don't take part in their experiments? We should test how they react.

Don't talk about this on the network. Come to the Welcome Diner if you want to find out more. We want to hold a meeting with everyone about this plan on the 14th at the diner.

Let's see how willing they are to act.

If you come to the Welcome Diner, Robby Keene and Tsuruno Yui can be found, especially during the first week and a half of the month; others, too, with the activity taking place there. But the pair are usually behind the counter, or Robby.

Take any of the above locations -- outside your character's apartment, on the streets, or the Welcome Diner -- as a place to bump into them, or to be bumped into.

[ OPTION 2: THE ARRANGED MEETING ]

[ OOC: Hi this is an IC post on the subject of experimenting with city events. Both Robby and Tsuruno can talk with your character, or if you would prefer one or the other, make a note of it in the subject! ]

[ It is cool! She always likes when kids have that spark in their eye, and an idea not unlike hers. Shame she can't give better news. ]

I've made attempts, but the problem is keeping a barrier up takes up a lot of my energy. The people who brought us here have suppressed my natural output, so I can't maintain more than one at a time. It isn't effective for setting traps for tracking the movements of the people keeping us here.

No, sorry. My technique isn't suited to that level of monitoring. I'm more of a brickhouse than a CCTV system.

[ Her power is great for making her punch things hard enough to make a hole in them. Curtains can only do so much and can't be maintained for a long time without extra set up. ]

If you welcome speculation... the restocking would be easy to perform if this place isn't real. As in we observe it as a physical space because we are in it, but it's all constructed on their end and can be altered at any moment. Like how you can edit a photo on your phone.

Have you ever heard of simulation theory? It's the idea that the world we live isn't real. We can interact with the world because we are part of it, but we are real and the world is not. Essentially the theory posits that we're trapped in a fake world that is designed to appear real.

... Of course in a normal situation, I would dismiss this idea. But in our circumstances, it isn't so far fetched.

I've seen the Matrix.

[ It's ok, she gets it, some people might not have The Matrix at home. ]

But yes, effectively that. It would also explain how people can die and then return to life.

I can't argue there. I've seen it happen even back home! But we need to grasp for the logical threads where we can.

I don't really have any evidence of my claims, but I do feel confident this is all a very long and elaborate lab experiment. To what end is hard to deduce.
