[ PROMPT 1: FOR BUMPING INTO, BE BUMPED INTO! ]

There's a pair on a mission--and hopefully, a pair capable of wrangling some of their friends to join in on sharing out some fliers they've made for an experiment. But as it is, you may meet this pair when they knock at the door of where you're staying, or while you're out on the streets! Each with a friendly face, from the boy's calm nod and "Hey--you got a minute?" or the girl's [description here].

Or you've escaped meeting them in person, but found their flier slipped under the door of where you're staying. And on it reads...

PLEASE READ!A group of us want to hold an experiment on how the city will react if we don't go to a new location immediately or any event it runs. The newsletter they gave out mentioned a Halloween party, and the report in the office also mentioned a test running from the 19th to 31st of October.

What happens if we run our own party in this timeframe? What happens if we don't take part in their experiments? We should test how they react.

Don't talk about this on the network. Come to the Welcome Diner if you want to find out more. We want to hold a meeting with everyone about this plan on the 14th at the diner.

Let's see how willing they are to act.

If you come to the Welcome Diner, Robby Keene and Tsuruno Yui can be found, especially during the first week and a half of the month; others, too, with the activity taking place there. But the pair are usually behind the counter, or Robby.

Take any of the above locations -- outside your character's apartment, on the streets, or the Welcome Diner -- as a place to bump into them, or to be bumped into.

[ OPTION 2: THE ARRANGED MEETING ]

[ OOC: Hi this is an IC post on the subject of experimenting with city events. Both Robby and Tsuruno can talk with your character, or if you would prefer one or the other, make a note of it in the subject! ]

[ His brows furrow, an expression somewhat uncomfortable after Midnight speaks. His arms folding across his chest, a small nibble taken briefly on his lower lip. ]

We're not trapping anyone inside if something happens. We don't even know what will happen--there's no reason it'll be as bad as the mall.

[ He sure as hell doesn't look happy thinking about it. ]

[ Midnight sighs, but nods. Both decisions are difficult to make, but at the end of the day, a risk needs to be taken one way or another. ]

No reason, indeed. Let's plan for the worst, though. Make sure everyone knows where the exits are, have a plan to evacuate, even if we don't end up using it.

[ He's slow to respond; looking away from Midnight, continuing to bite the inner side of his lip. There's always been a chance for something happening, but anything like the mall--it's unnerved him, the implication (the possibility), and while he's willing to put it aside for now.

Well, it sticks with him. Makes his gaze not as strong on Midnight's face. ]

Sure. [ ... ] If we have an outdoor venue with an open roof, no one can get locked in. We'll look for a good spot.

[ ... Is now the time to bring up that hesitance? It seems like Robby's the sort to put of a strong front, and that means one probably needs to check if he's all right... but at the same time, he's running a meeting, and now may not be the time to question his leadership, especially if they're trying to do something quite risky.

He resolves to remember and ask later. Everyone needs someone to talk to. ]

Excellent. Let me know where and when to set up the bar and I'll be there early.

[ Robby nods, and he's fine with leaving the discussion like that; he's got lower energy than Tsuruno in general, not needing to continue a conversation beyond its subject, and there's some ideas going around from the meeting.

If Midnight does want to speak to him at a quieter time, once things have settled, then he can find him while he's still in the diner, or when he's leaving.

(One of the two may options have less Mister LaRusso hanging around.) ]

[ What about both? Midnight was going to be there until closing time anyway, finishing up his notes and making sure he's prepared for the entire night. When he does finish, he looks up and flags down Robby. ]

Just about done here. Would you like some assistance? I can lock the back if you haven't already.

[ Robby's fine with letting a person do what they need to, and there isn't much reason for people to linger -- unless they're Midnight. They've washed up the cups that were used and been put away, and when he sees Midnight still there, he approaches him with some curiosity. ]

Oh-- it's fine, it's locked. [ But the notes haven't been missed, and how Midnight seems to carry them around (he did say he's been collecting information since getting here, didn't he?). Robby glances at them in gesture as he asks: ] Did you come up with anything else?

Nothing of grave importance, I think. Just reorganizing my notes so I can look at them later, put them on a calendar.

[ Midnight flashes a grin at Robby, tilts the notebook at him briefly. Indeed, the notes within are neat now, grouped into categories of what he needs to prioritize and things to plan for in the future. ]

My memory is far from perfect, and I do like to keep busy, so making sure I stay on top of everything I've learned is of the utmost importance. Worth the effort, though.

[ With the notebook tilted, Robby does take more than a cursory glance, but nods his head after in acknowledgement. But he's stepping back from the booth, a means of giving Midnight room. ]

I should ask you what you know sometime. Always feels like there's stuff I don't know.

[ And there is--he could do with a refresher on some. ]

Oh, I'd doubt I'd know more than anyone else. It's why I write so much, you know; none of this actually sticks in my head. I'm the sort who's always very surprised when certain facts present themselves to me when I need them. Perhaps that's the reason why it seems like others have their hands full keeping an eye on me... I forget the rules.

[ Robby doesn't really know what to make of that, Midnight not being a character he knows particularly well, or really heard anything second-hand about. So while that ending comment makes him pause, he tips his head in an acknowledging manner. ]

Didn't know you were a troublemaker.

[ If he's even that. ]

Very much so. Although I really don't do anything out of order, mind. What's the colloquial term? "Out of pocket"?

[ Midnight chuckles to himself. ]

I like being very free with my honesty, and that does land me in more hot water than it really should.

[ He chuckles himself, something light and easy. ]

Don't know then if you should be the one to talk to our shy abductors.

[ It's joking, exaggerated, nor important enough for him to not speak again after a beat. ]

By the way, you mind if I close up? I told Mister LaRusso I would. Not that there's anything to take in here, but...

[ He doesn't seem it worth finishing his sentence with the look he gives about. It's just the way you do things, clearly. ]

Good thing I'm getting in some practice, then.

[ Probably... shouldn't be talking about newcomers like they're training wheels...

Anyway, Midnight nods, collecting his things and rising from his place at the table. ]

I'll be heading for my night run after this, anyhow. Shall I wait up for you?

[ This place can be rather dangerous, after all, and he did promise Mr. LaRusso to keep an eye on the lad... ]

No, I'm okay. [ He's casual, easy, tipping his head with the answer. ] I know my way back.

[ Robby isn't thinking about danger, at least. ]

[ ... Huh. ]

Do you usually lock up on your own at night, then?

[ Not that there have been any murders recently... that they know of....... ]

No? [ He's puzzled by the question, but-- ]

I just told Mister LaRusso it was okay if he went back first so he could start up dinner. He cooks for a bunch of people.

I see... Perhaps I'll follow you back to see Mr. LaRusso. I do want to get to my run, but I would like to reconfirm a few details about my new responsibilities with him.

[ And if that means Robby gets some chaperoning on the way home... Well, that's very convenient, isn't it? ]

[ ????

That's an odd thing to say, and Robby wants to ask, but maybe he can do so, if not immediately. He'll give a simple 'Okay' for now, walking over in the direction of the doorway out; stopping to wait for Midnight, and when he's up and ready to leave, Robby will exit the building too.

He has a set of keys for the diner, and he'll lock it up. As long as Midnight is ready to go? ]

[ He is! He puts his phone in his pocket and smiles at Robby, follows him out obediently, and waits until that door is fully locked. ]

He's quite the chef. You must have a lovely time coming back to a warm dinner every day here... Did he usually cook for you where you're from?

[ And so the door is locked, the keys shoved into Robby's pocket along with his hands, and he'll start to walk comfortably. ]

Nope, I live with my dad. Mister LaRusso lives in a different part of town. [ A far richer part of part. Robby glances at Midnight. ] You can ask him if you wanna have dinner with him now and then. Cooking keeps him busy.

[ His dad, huh... Midnight nods, frown more in thought than in concern, hand in a pocket. ]

Only if it isn't an imposition... Though he does seem to be the sort who thrives on caring for others. Must make him an excellent teacher. Are you learning cooking or mechanics from him?

[ Whichever the case may be, he's surely off to an excellent start. ]

[ He huffs, amused as he asks: ]

Are you trying to learn more about me or Mister LaRusso?

Can't it be both?

[ Midnight wiggles his eyebrows. He's a very silly man. ]

[ He hums, a sort of sing-song tune to mean 'fair enough'. But give Robby a second, and you know what? ]

Why don't I ask the questions. [ How about that! ] What were you doing where you come from? There anyone here from the same world as you?
