(open) infodump meeting
WHO: jumpy
coolerjunpei and OPEN
WHAT: The sequel to the prior secrets/infosharing meeting. Also, separately: Art Club.
WHERE: A conference room in an office building. Art Club is in a random apartment near City Hall.
WHEN: Sept. 14-15
WARNINGS: kromer probably. tba on the rest
INFO MEETING
[In Setsuna's absence but wanting to continue the usefulness of the info-sharing Secret Meetings, Junpei has taken it upon himself to spread the word about the newest physical meeting place. As before, nondescript handwritten flyers are posted around the most heavily trafficked areas of the city (with a scattering more in apartment buildings and less-popular areas), all reading roughly the same thing:
Infosharing time again. Under new management?
Come as you are, buzzkills only allowed if they bring snacks. 2nd floor conference room in the office building across from the bank.
junpei
It was cool when Setsuna could leave his mysterious network username but unfortunately Junpei is still living with his fool-ass choices... Regardless. It's dated for the afternoon of the 14th, and on the day of, Junpei has brought paper and writing supplies and a clipboard and a cardboard box for fun later to the conference room.
He's holding the clipboard because it makes him feel important, and occasionally flipping pages to squint at it while people wander in. Eventually:]
Uh, hey—Junpei here. If you were here last time, you know what this is about already, buuut if you weren't: we're planning, more or less. All of our information is spread around, so... this is an effort to get it all in as many heads as possible, when more of us inevitably disappear without a trace overnight.
[Ahem. Okay,] Last time we were also planning some projects, and Setsuna was going to help me make a drone to explore the parts of the city we can't physically get to, but he's gone, so... I'm taking applications for Drone Team?
[..........,]
That's all I've got. Let's mingle and do some info-magic.
(OOC PORTION: hello, please treat this as a FREE MINGLE and post TLs to your heart's content. Infosharing is the main goal but if you want to recruit ICly for a Project, feel free!! There are also SNACKS ABOUND. enjoy.)

because he has no particular desire to die tonight he doesn't say it out loud tho.
part 2: thoughtfully eating offbrand m&ms, heine asks: ]
Did you remember being here? [ when she was home, that is. he won't add to the litany of people being like a week ago?! ]
no subject
and
she hesitates, glancing just over his shoulder. ]
Ehm, somewhat. Thee could say... it was like a dream.
[ ... she really doesn't like lying. but if it's to... then sure, it's... ]
no subject
It's okay, you don't have to tell me. [ he's not bothered by it, but she doesn't have to lie.
heine lifts an m&m like he's offering to toss it at her. this in exchange for saying out loud that he's glad she's back, both because he's sort of allergic to expressions of care and also because that's a fucked-up thing to be glad for and he knows it. ]
no subject
in response to the m&m though, she's opening her mouth. toss it. she'll dive for that bitch. ]
no subject
no subject
I am glad to have come back as well, [ since she doesn't have a problem verbalizing it, ] for I very much missed thee.
[ or would have, if she remembered him. she missed him when she woke up does that count. ]
no subject
hearing what he had kept himself from saying, said out loud, is... it makes him squirm a little, not with discomfort but just with the newness of it. missed him. he knows that don's reluctance to say anything about being back home probably means she hadn't remembered much at all, but even the fact that she said it is pretty nice. ]
...It would have been boring without you. [ that's what he settles on, as far as agreements go. hopefully she can read between the lines. ]
no subject
For who else would challenge thee to nigh-impossible tasks? [ like lemon biting... ] I would not be against another meal if thy heart should yearn to try again!
[ she'll think of something he can lose. ]
no subject
[ heine's not actually bitter about having lost the lemon-biting competition. he put up a good fight! and besides, it was never really about the lemon as much as it was about just getting to spend... time with a friend... (squirm, part 2.)
but in the name of his pride it would still be nice to win once. ]
no subject
In what do thee feel confident in having an edge over myself?
no subject
I'm sure there's something...
[ one of the reasons don quixote is so fun is that she has almost all the edges heine usually has: fast, strong, can't die, or at least doesn't stay dead for long. maybe heine has a leg up because he also heals from all his wounds, but that sounds like the kind of thing that they would only test to the extreme and vocal disappointment of their roommates (or maybe just heine's roommate). ]
no subject
... oh, that could be fun!!!!!!!!! ]
I don't suppose thee have anything against a little dirt?
no subject
[ in fact, one of the first things he did when he got to the city was dig a grave in the graveyard! that was a disappointing endeavor, though, only because he got all six feet down only to find out there was nothing there. he hadn't expected weapons (which is what they were looking for) but a coffin might have been fun
anyway. ]
What are you thinking of?
no subject
We shall see who can dig their grave faster! Using their hands only, of course -- thine are bigger than mine, so it should give thee some advantage. A shallow one, I think, for any longer and it shall be a week's endeavor over a mere few hours!
no subject
With our hands? [ wow donqui that's intense. ] I know how long it takes me with a shovel, but hands...
[ nothing like a low-stakes challenge to make heine feel like his competitive spirit is igniting. he nods slowly in agreement. ]
Okay, you're on. Loser buys dinner again, or do we have new stakes?
no subject
[ she'll!!! take over dinner!!! ]
Whomever wins shall decide the first ride we go on at the fair once it has opened!
[ because she's taking all her friends at least once. ]
no subject
Never been to a fair before. [ and he knows, just knows badou is going to kill him if he sets foot on its grounds before at least four weeks have passed since its opening, but also... ]
Okay, deal. [ he'll excuse it by saying he went to look after don quixote, ignoring that she needs zero looking after by heine. ]
no subject
Nor have I! Well, save to look into it a little early -- there are so many wondrous things there! I am not certain how they may handle food, as there is no kitchen upon the stands, but I shall look forward to it regardless! I rather like the merry-go-round, but thy height may work against thee there.
[ haha. too tall for the kid's ride where you go up and down on horses. ]
Oooh, I am so excited! When shall we best one another? Not today, nor tomorrow, I am preoccupied on both, but it must be before the 19th whence it opens!!!!!!!
[ look at her leg kicks ]
no subject
The 18th? [ he doesn't really keep track of the days generally, but he will in the name of making sure he doesn't miss their graveyard meeting. ] Or the night of the 17th. Digging graves feels like a nighttime activity.
[ ...only because the one (1) grave he's dug was done at night, probably. ]
no subject
That sounds fine to me as well, dear Heine! The City -- ehm, my city -- has other ways of taking care of the dead, so it is rare to see a grave for others unless one has done it themselves or they have paid for it.
[ most of the time they just get turned into clothes or... well, let's just say they don't let a single bit go to waste. ]
no subject
[ doesn't take a genius to read from that reaction that don quixote doesn't love the night. it doesn't matter to heine one way or another, either, so daytime it is if it makes her more comfortable.
he nods a little like this makes a ton of sense. ] You said something about that. The... Enkephalin?
[ oh wait. ] No, wait, that was "mostly but not all dead." I think. [ he is doing so good at keeping her stories straight. ]
no subject
Kehm. Yes, that is correct -- those must be still alive. The Sweepers take care of the fallen in the Backstreets, though they do not care if one is dead or not.
[ ... ]
The time does not need to change, by the way, but it would be better to see who finishes first. Thou art a wise man for thinking ahead.
[ yeah. she can do it like that. ]
no subject
[ heine feels like he's learning the lay of the land of don's weird city in fits and starts, cobbled together from the crumbs of lore she drops in the middle of other conversations. it's an interesting way to learn more about someone.
he's not about to put her on blast for being afraid of the dark, or whatever it is that motivates her not to want to dig graves at night. to give her an out, heine observes, ] Nah, daytime's better. That way we can go eat when we're done.
[ if they start in the early afternoon they'll be done by dinnertime, easy. not that heine eats on much of a schedule other than "when he feels like it." ]
cw implied cannibalism i am so sorry laura
[ since she does wanna eat out with him again. what a good kind young man he is, don seems to relax more because of it. ]
Oh, but the Sweepers... they are not exactly a clean up crew, but scavangers? I suppose thee could call them. They walk the Backstreets for an hour and twenty one minutes exact, at the same time each night, and consume those whom have been left outside.
no subject
[ who asked, heine ]
I guess you'd better stay inside for that hour and twenty minutes if you don't want to end up dinner.
