Nay. He suffered the consequences that I had warned him of, for I did not do this without knowing first what may yet come: unable to speak well and a lack of understanding the faces around him, and a worsening of speech in regards to the incident itself. It lasted a week.

[ ooh, there's the merry-go-round. she'll work open the gate, gesturing for angela to step ahead. like a gentleman!!! ]

As did the witness' punishment: feeling my death as if it were their own every moment they sought sleep. I believe they were punished more than anyone else, and I feel it wrong.

Well, it'll certainly entice people to intercede rather than be bystanders when trouble is actually afoot. ( now-- ) ...Which of these horses is your favorite?

[ probably. don would intervene anyway, but that doesn't need to be said. she peers at the childish steeds and rests her hand on a golden one. ]

[ leaning her head against it looooook they maaaatch!!!! don'll help angela onto whatever horse she wants, but they have one of those two seaters for couples too. ]

( their fur. she is obviously no horse expert but is it wrong to say hair for them?

still, angela looks at the horses critically, stepping onto the merry-go-round and going around to them. they're all... well-painted, she supposes, but they don't look particularly comfortable to sit on?

except the ones meant for two people, obviously, so she selects one of the benches that look as if they're being pulled by a horse and sits.

Fine choice, my lady, for such elegance ought to be spoiled! It seems a perfect reading spot, does it not?

( while there's no people, no lights and sounds to distract her... as if she wouldn't still read in those circumstances. )

I wonder if I get motion sickness, ( she adds quietly, the thought coming to her. some people did--is she one? ...was carmen? who knows. ) Do you?

I should hope not! The omnibus on which we ride rattles along so restlessly sometimes, over bodies of our slain and such, that it tosses and turns violently. It is like a cradle to me.

[ so she's probably okay. the girl falls asleep on her seatmates so easily, she... misses yi sang terribly, she wants to see everyone again -- in a happier circumstance -- and falls quiet. while angela can't see it, her eyes are distant and smile simply there for a lack of any other expression. ]

It is a bus on which we ride and live, as part of the Limbus Company Bus section of the Company, named for... the bus.

[ of course. naturally. ].

It is Mistress Faust's child, though Outis takes care of its mechanical needs as well -- it is our home, and we have spent many a day together on it. We twelve, along with Sir Vergilius and young Miss Charon. There is nothing particularly special about it.

( there it is. angela is quiet, thinking of how that could be--extracting enkephalin is a complicated process, after all. ordinary humans can't manage it: it has to be done mechanically. not to mention it takes humans to make...

One: I'd love to meet Miss Faust sometime. I think we would have a lot to talk about.

Two: as someone with experience working with enkephalin, allow me to take a guess as to how you're "self-sufficient". ( ... ) Your bus itself harvests it, doesn't it.

It does, and we throw those that would seek to harm us into the maw when necessary.

Mistress Faust would love to speak with thee as well, I am sure! Her and Yi Sang both -- it is by their hands that we are able to work as we do, both geniuses in two different fields! I am fortunate enough to be roomed with them.

You are. ( what makes her so special, then? she certainly isn't a researcher like them. she's a seemingly ordinary fixer, but she already knew one of those-- ) How fortunate for you indeed. I suppose they keep tight lips around you about their research, however.

They do that to everyone, so I am not offended. The process is simply not important to anyone save Mistress Faust herself, only the managing of it.

She isn't the type to like flowers, and I don't know about sweets--but she likes cigarettes. Find ones without menthol. ( figure that out. as for netzach... mmm. ) Netzach likes to drink, so boozy chocolates would work on him. He'd probably like any kind of flower you give him, too. I'd lean towards a potted plant that can withstand a few days without water, just in case we have another situation like the mall.
