[MINGLE, ESPECIALLY TO NEWCOMERS] ROOFTOP FESTIVITIES!!!
WHO: All!
WHAT: Rooftop festivities!
WHERE: On a rooftop of an office building in the second open district!
WHEN: 8/14, evening!
WARNINGS: alcohol, tba as it goes

Banner displayed inside the train station, outside city hall, and on the most used residence buildings.
Follow the arrows.
So you're unaware. Maybe new. Or maybe you just didn't care the first time you saw it. That's fine. Between the banners hanging around key areas, and the flyers quickly drawn up in a similar fashion scattered across the city, it's hard not to know something is going on -- and there's helpful arrows, chalked on building walls and the streets the day of the party, to let people know where to go.
The Rooftop

A splendid scene awaits those who travel heavensward. Fairy lights connect the corners of the roof access building to metal poles at the corners of the building itself, lifted by cylindrical supports where needed, each one held straight by pots filled with well-packed dirty and stone. There's multicolored stars hanging from some of the lights, while various painted flowers hang on others, and what greets the ears first is some royalty free party music played from a CD player off the the side.
There's a long folded out table in the center for those who'd like to share cuisine, just set and serve yourself! Nearby is a space for Daan to do some bartending as well, a man who can make a multitude of cocktails and mocktails for those who want something less alcoholic. Also, pints of various ice cream flavors in a cooler!
Don't worry -- they won't have any odd effects on them, Don verified the lack of them herself. Not all of them are normal. Think loaded baked potato weird.
For those who'd like a quieter space, there's beanbags and a swirly, fuzzy carpet to sit on more away from the center of the party area. This'll be a great time to play some games, such as truth or dare, spin the bottle, and... whatever else you play at parties. Get to know your fellow man and such. Play the violin.
Naturally, no party... hosted... by Don Quixote would be without a space to fight, if one wishes to show off a little! It's also taking place on a swirly fuzzy carpet, just so no one smashes their head in, and there's a neat little banner hanging down from a string of lights that says thus:
WIN THREE MATCHES AND A PRIZE AWAITS THEE!!!!!!!
- NO KILLING
- HANDS ONLY
What the prize is, no one knows. But come find Don Quixote with your battle scars and she'll grant it -- and stick around a while, 'cause this party's gonna end with a bang... that is, with homemade fireworks donated by "a friend" through Junpei.
Anyway, have fun!!! Share words about your worlds!!! The society your characters are from, the cuisine they've brought, how they're working out in the city -- help the new kids along, too. There's more vets here now than there were a few months ago, after all.

[You can bring a Color to party, can't make him dance.]
[He lets out a little half laugh at that, though its more of a huff.]
I'm pretty sure she would. Don't know where she gets that kind of energy. Kids these days.
no subject
You're a Color? ( ... ) Which one?
no subject
[Now here's an odd feeling. She knows what a Color is, but doesn't know which...?]
[Huh.]
I'm the Red Gaze.
no subject
The pleasure is mine. I'm Angela. ( introductions... ) Forgive me for not knowing right off. You could say I've been too engrossed with my own work the past couple of years to notice anything happening in the City.
( hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yeah let's say that )
no subject
[Better than being called the Red Gaze, but in the end, he'll take whatever.]
That so...? Where were you cooped up, in one of the Corps?
no subject
Yes, I was.
( LIKE. it isn't wrong. sure. cooped up. )
Roland's been telling me about the City since he showed up on my doorstep, though, and I've been reading about it otherwise... My knowledge of how it works is growing, but there's still a lot to get through. ( when she finishes reading her perfect book and knows everything except for what happens in the future. she'll be powerful. )
no subject
[Wait, wait. Hold up. Back up.]
You make him sound like a lost pet or something.
no subject
...He certainly was lost when he arrived. ( or he seemed it. Anyway, Moving On. ) He has friends in high places—he's worked with a surprising amount of Colors. Are you one of them?
no subject
[Is she someone who he met after the Pianist...?]
Yes, he did. We only did one mission together, though.
no subject
Just one... I see. Then you're less than coworkers. ( always nice to have a mental map of your employees' relationships. ) Did you know his wife? He's... spoken to me about her a little, but I never had the chance to meet her myself.
no subject
[Yeah, he'll take "less than coworkers", even if part of him feels like that's wrong.]
Never met the lady. He talked about her. And then...
[...........]
Well. You know what happened, right?
no subject
( more than that, she... )
What a shame. I was hoping I could learn more about her from someone other than Roland. ( or argalia. ) She sounded... like a very strong and interesting person, to have been able to break through Roland's pessimism.
( the whole citypilled thing. )
no subject
[What she said next makes him raise an eyebrow, before he glances away, almost a little distant.]
I don't know about that. He was happy. But..."that is that and this is this". I don't feel that phrase suited him at all.
no subject
He says it so often now, it's hard for me to think that it doesn't suit him. ( it suits him a little too well, even. ) What makes you feel it doesn't?
no subject
[He even said as much to him, once.]
no subject
Well, if it helped him cope with her death... or if it at least allowed him to compartmentalize it, then it's not a bad thing for him to have picked it up.
( she says, not entirely meaning it, but even she's used it against him before. that is that, and this is this. )
no subject
[Not as if they knew each other. Not really. Even though he would've liked to. Even if he dreamed of a world for him.]
...What kind of work was he doing for you?
no subject
Receiving guests, collecting books, answering whatever questions I had for him... Among other minor administrative duties.
( regular librarian duties. okay, maybe the questions part isn't, but that's his special privilege. )
no subject
[Part of that makes him squint, though, lights of his eyes glimmering.]
...Books?
no subject
...He hasn't told you? ( no, maybe she shouldn't be that surprised. roland has people who call him "friend", but they don't know the first thing about his work. a sigh. ) I'm aware he's not exactly fond of the work I ask of him, but to think he never speaks a word about it at all...
( maybe it's better he doesn't. really, maybe she shouldn't be so informational about it either, but that had been her role for an eternity: to explain to others the function of their job, of the corporation they had come to. it's an easy, natural rhythm for her to fall into, discussing her library. )
no subject
[Though sometimes things intersect, and...well.]
Is it a difficult job you make him do?
no subject
( it's just other circumstances making it bad, and angela isn't interested in divulging details. )
no subject
[He says, as bluntly as ever.]
Fixers don't "retire", really. Even Roland found that out the hard way.
no subject
( so: yes. )
...If there was a different way, I would have sought it.
no subject
[A long pause. "Books". Doing work like a Fixer.]
[He has to ask. Just to quell the question burning in his chest.]
Was your place of work the Library?
