[MINGLE, ESPECIALLY TO NEWCOMERS] ROOFTOP FESTIVITIES!!!
WHO: All!
WHAT: Rooftop festivities!
WHERE: On a rooftop of an office building in the second open district!
WHEN: 8/14, evening!
WARNINGS: alcohol, tba as it goes

Banner displayed inside the train station, outside city hall, and on the most used residence buildings.
Follow the arrows.
So you're unaware. Maybe new. Or maybe you just didn't care the first time you saw it. That's fine. Between the banners hanging around key areas, and the flyers quickly drawn up in a similar fashion scattered across the city, it's hard not to know something is going on -- and there's helpful arrows, chalked on building walls and the streets the day of the party, to let people know where to go.
The Rooftop

A splendid scene awaits those who travel heavensward. Fairy lights connect the corners of the roof access building to metal poles at the corners of the building itself, lifted by cylindrical supports where needed, each one held straight by pots filled with well-packed dirty and stone. There's multicolored stars hanging from some of the lights, while various painted flowers hang on others, and what greets the ears first is some royalty free party music played from a CD player off the the side.
There's a long folded out table in the center for those who'd like to share cuisine, just set and serve yourself! Nearby is a space for Daan to do some bartending as well, a man who can make a multitude of cocktails and mocktails for those who want something less alcoholic. Also, pints of various ice cream flavors in a cooler!
Don't worry -- they won't have any odd effects on them, Don verified the lack of them herself. Not all of them are normal. Think loaded baked potato weird.
For those who'd like a quieter space, there's beanbags and a swirly, fuzzy carpet to sit on more away from the center of the party area. This'll be a great time to play some games, such as truth or dare, spin the bottle, and... whatever else you play at parties. Get to know your fellow man and such. Play the violin.
Naturally, no party... hosted... by Don Quixote would be without a space to fight, if one wishes to show off a little! It's also taking place on a swirly fuzzy carpet, just so no one smashes their head in, and there's a neat little banner hanging down from a string of lights that says thus:
WIN THREE MATCHES AND A PRIZE AWAITS THEE!!!!!!!
- NO KILLING
- HANDS ONLY
What the prize is, no one knows. But come find Don Quixote with your battle scars and she'll grant it -- and stick around a while, 'cause this party's gonna end with a bang... that is, with homemade fireworks donated by "a friend" through Junpei.
Anyway, have fun!!! Share words about your worlds!!! The society your characters are from, the cuisine they've brought, how they're working out in the city -- help the new kids along, too. There's more vets here now than there were a few months ago, after all.

[The sigh he exhales is so exhausted, so annoyed, that it almost burns in his throat.]
Even if you do, it's already too late. She made her movements. She even pulled out a monster from who knows where. Maybe your Library. Sweeping up the pieces won't make the vase unbreak itself.
[He shakes his head. It's not fair. It's never fair. That wonderful Christmas, destroyed in an instant. He steps after her, reaching out to grab her wrist.]
What the hell were you even trying to accomplish with that thing? That Library?

wings, he's terrifying. )
I... ( her voice falters, grows small, then swells again. ) I wanted to live. I wanted freedom. Is that so wrong?
no subject
[That...surprises him.]
[He's heard so many times about things done for the greater good. Or even desires that were insane, like that Jumsoon and his art and refraction experiments.]
I....what? [He falters, even if his grip doesn't.] It was all about you? Not some kind of technology?

( hot, wet tears prick at her eyes. anger? sorrow? she clenches her fist and yanks hard to try and get away from him properly this time, even knowing she's no match. )
Does that make it an invalid reason? Do you hate me for being selfish? Are you going to kill me for wanting to be more than my role?
( it probably wouldn't matter to him the pain she had suffered, and as wound up as she is, she is keeping her lips tightly sealed. he isn't roland. he doesn't get that privilege. no one does. )
no subject
[He dimly feels her pulling from his solid grip. A yank. Another yank.]
[He sees the tears, and finally, one by one, finger by finger, he lets her go.]
I'm a Color. I'm the last person who could judge someone for wanting to go outside your role.
[He sucks in a breath as he pulls his hand back to his side, glancing away. His chest aches. The memory of a demolished orphanage, a snake-like woman, a monstrous heap of maligned flesh and body parts. It's an image that has echoed in his mind every single day.]
...You're honest. Whenever I hear a Corporation crow about its gifts to humanity, it makes me sick. At least you have the decency to not want to pretend otherwise.
[A beat.]
We're all selfish. So no. I don't hate you for that.

she misses the library, before everything came crashing down. whether it was a lie or real, whether it meant something to everyone, to her... it was better. it was happier. it was easier. )
...I wouldn't blame you if you did. My quest hasn't done anyone else any favors. ( she's aware. she's heard. her revenge, her desires, her tantrum--what good had it done anyone but her? ...what good had it even done her? ) Thank you all the same.
( a deep, slow breath. she's fine. she's... )
Even if it won't change what happened, I'd still like to know why... so I will still, to the best of my ability, investigate it. This book... ( she doesn't look at it, but holds it tighter. ) It has answers for me and how to achieve my desires. Perhaps it could also...
( ...
well, that's also just for her. a sigh. )
I'm sorry for what happened, what may have been my or the Library's fault--apologies will not bring back what you may have lost, I know.
( but it is better than nothing. )
no subject
[He doesn't want her condolences. Sure, he'll believe her in that what happened that day wasn't something she did intentionally. As far as he knows, the Library stood on its own, and people flocked to it with their own choices. No. He hates it for its failures.]
[If Iori had really been trapped for good, then...none of that would've happened, would it?]
[He lets his bangs fall back over his face, his red eyes glancing towards the book she holds so tightly to her chest.]
Seek your desires or whatever. But makes sure to clean up your own messes, too.
no subject
if she can do it back home, she will. if she makes a mess here, she'll figure it out. that's all. )
