(OPEN) probably the least secret secret meeting, all things considered
WHO: Setsuna F. Seiei (
elswhisperer) & you!
WHAT: The code word log!
WHERE: City Hall Park
WHEN: July 12
WARNINGS: N/A
[ Over the course of the past few days, you may have noticed simple, nondescript flyers posted here and there across the city. All handwritten, they list a location (a particular statue in the City Park) along with a time and date (3:00 PM, July 12). Below that, an extremely brief message:
For establishing safe communications.
- moment.
On the day of, you'll find a young man in a red scarf waiting by the named statue. He has with him sheets of blank paper, pens, and pencils. ]
My name is Setsuna F. Seiei. 'Moment' from the network. The purpose of this meeting is creating a way to safely disseminate information to each other all at once. If one of us found an exit, or determined the identity of our captors, we'd be jeopardizing ourselves by revealing it openly over the network. At the same time, the network is our most efficient method of communication. We need to make the most of all the tools at our disposal.
We can accomplish that with the use of code language. One that's not complicated; that anyone could remember and pass along. What that code is and what we want to communicate with it is something one person can't determine for themselves. That's why I wanted us all to meet.
Without cooperation, we're not gonna get anywhere.
[ ooc: just a couple things! go ahead and mingle/threadhop as you like (especially bc i may not be the fastest tagger rn), and if setsuna has already mentioned to your character that he's been working on something, feel free to assume he left some kind of vague message about checking flyers over the inboxes or smth. ]

Is there really nothing else that doesn't reset besides the apartments?
[Wait, they do WHAT. Someone here hasn't gone through the network posts yet, and the shock is clear.]
Well it's at odds with the rest of the tech in the city, so yes, but also what?
no subject
[He does a hand gesture as he makes the sound effect, wherein his hand is Memories zooming quickly away into the ether. Bye, memories.]
Obviously we can't ask those people how it was done, but for precision memory removal like that...? Sounds advanced to me.
no subject
[One hell of an understatement, but all she could think in response to his explanation and description. She nodded to his second comment, crossing her arms as she thought about what it would take to achieve that.]
If it's nothing... supernatural or magical happening, then... yeah, that's pretty damn advanced technology and a knowledge of neuroscience that absolutely blows past what this city's appearance suggests.
no subject
So he tries to rein it in for the first-timers, as it were. Kind of.]
We're basically living in somebody's giant dollhouse, at this point. I mean, no one really thought this was a normal city we just happened to wake up in, right? Maybe if we get up high enough we can throw something and see if we're in a big dome. Like in that movie.
no subject
She doesn't really want to think about the alternative.
She was nodding along to what he was saying, till he got to the bit about a movie, and she stopped, giving him a confused look before a laugh escaped her.]
You mean The Truman Show? Wow, I haven't thought about that in a long time. But I guess there are some tall buildings around here, maybe someone should try that. If not to see if there's a dome, then to just see what we can see.
Since I doubt asking the kiosk if we're in a dome will get anywhere.
no subject
What, it's a good movie. And it's not like they didn't have weather in there, right? So nobody can say the dome theory is impossible because it rained a few weeks ago.
I guess picking the tallest building and going for an elevator ride should go on the list of things to try.
no subject
[That was interesting, though she wondered what that said about other natural disasters and severe weather. Was the city rated for tornadoes? Earthquakes? Flooding? Maybe she'd try peppering the kiosk with a few of those questions and go from there.]
Well, at least the kiosk might answer that question properly? [Maybe] I don't know if I'll think of any good questions, but I'll try and brainstorm some and see what the kiosk gets me.
no subject
[See, he's on to something!! He's not 100% married to the dome idea, but it never hurts to consider a dozen possibilities at once.]
That's a good idea, though. I don't know where we're gonna keep this list... [It's technically Kromer's? He'll have to copy it over for himself later,] But uh, definitely share with the class if you learn anything good.
