[ After speaking with Ethan and, through association, a resident doctor, Hob feels better knowing that the werewolf is no longer a threat to others for now and there is someone who is checking in on those who were attacked. Insisting that Daan see to others first is probably not going to amount to much, and Hob is just grateful for the help.

Since he's still recovering quite a bit, he isn't going out anytime soon, so he'll be home whenever the doctor decides to check in on him.

And when that time comes and Hob hears a knock at the door, he gets out of bed to answer, dressed in a simple t-shirt and some sweatpants for comfort. Although he's moving slowly due to his injury and still appears rather pale, the doctor is greeted with a smile. ]

Hello, doctor. Thank you for coming.

Given the amount of blood he lost after the werewolf attack (much of which was your own fault, Hob), Hob has been spending a lot of time resting at home. He sleeps many hours during the day, but is able to at least contact Loki and contact some other people between bouts of fatigue that overtake him. When he wakes, he tries to eat to get his strength back. Having Dream around to watch over him is helpful, too.

However, after shouting over his device at Johanna before she (rightfully) hangs up on him, Hob finds himself tired and excessively moody. He'd go for a long walk if he could, but he can't even get out of bed to deal with his aggitation. Although he doesn't want Loki to worry, Hob eventually gives in and sends the Asgardian a text:

I need you. Please come?

Once it's sent, Hob decides he should try to rest before Loki's arrival, except he drifts off to sleep again, for a time. It's a good thing he has a roommate to answer the door.

[ There have been some nights in the past, here in the city, where Hob had a hard time falling asleep. He'd wonder about the state of this place, the people here, and their purpose. Big questions keep him up at night. Since he was injured by a werewolf, though? Hob has slept plenty. It's necessary to get his strength back, to heal his wounds, and to regain all the blood he lost. He can't stay in bed all the time, though, so when he wakes up feeling a bit hungry, he slowly gets out of bed, puts on some slippers, and quietly opens his bedroom door to shuffle on out, wearing a plain white t-shirt and some sweat pants.

Is Dream here or has he gone out to search for Vanessa? Hob can't help but wonder if she and Mr. Gray have been found or if any others happened to be injured during Ethan's night out. ]

Since he found out what had happened to Hob, Loki had been a busy man. All he really wants to do is see Hob, make sure he’s really okay, see how bad things were for himself, but when he sees the video from Ethan and later the message from Johanna, he decides to put that off and deal with a few other things first.

And maybe, just a little bit, he’s scared to go see Hob. All this caring about someone is new and right now, incredibly difficult. More than anything he wants to see Hob, likely hug him a bit too tightly as he worries over his wounds, but at the same time he’s scared to see how bad they actually are.

But when he gets that text he can’t get to Hob’s apartment fast enough. He sends a brief I will be there momentarily and is on his way.

When he arrives, he knocks rather gently, not wanting to startle Hob if he’s asleep.

It takes some moments before the door is answered, opening slowly to a dark and familiar figure who looks puzzled at Loki's presence. While the door is technically open, Dream stands in the doorway, and even if it's not fully intended, he is barring the way inside.

"Hello." That's the proper greeting that mortals use, right?

[ Dream had been out searching before, but for this moment he is here in ~~Hob's~~ their flat. and he is actually in the kitchen, of all places, looking at a can of soup while standing near the stove.

he looks up as Hob comes into view, giving him a small nod in greeting. ]

Are you hungry, Hob?

[ Hob smiles at the sight of Dream, which turns a touch more amused as he sees his friend pondering the can of soup. ]

Yeah, a bit.

[ Though he won't be eating anything too rough on his stomach, so that soup looks like a good option. ]

Have you found Vanessa?

[ Hob is hopeful that Dream has, which is why he's at the flat now. ]

Though he knows that Dream and Hob are roommates, he’s still somehow surprised to see him answer the door. Honestly, he’d figured it would be Hob calling for him to enter instead of his roommate answering the door. Loki immediately straightens, placing his hands behind his back as a mask of confidence and amusement falls into place.

“Lord of Dreams, how lovely to see you again. I do hope you have been keeping well. I hate to be hasty, but I received a text message from Robert requesting my presence. I assume he is here?” Loki smiles widely and every last bit of it is fake. The only reason he’s being polite at all is about 5% just having manners and 95% knowing it would upset Hob if he said something shitty to Dream. It’s hard to hold though as Dream stands fully in his way, blocking him from the only thing he cares about at the moment. Behind his back, his hands are clenched into fists.

You had dreamed briefly of food before waking. I thought to prepare something, but you awoke faster than I anticipated.

[ that and he doesn't exactly know how to prepare food, but. anyway.

he sets the can back onto the counter though, his expression pinching slightly with the question. ]

Not as of yet.

Dream doesn't look impressed with that presented front, though to be fair, he doesn't look like he'd be impressed by anything with his normal blank expression he has.

"He is indeed here," he begins, then turns his head slightly as if looking briefly behind him to check something. "Though he is asleep at this moment."

You were going to cook for me?

[ Sure, it's just soup, but it was thoughtful of Dream. Hob steps behind the kitchen counter and opens a drawer to get a hand operated can opener. It's hooked onto the edge of the can to operate it. ]

No? [ A soft frown. Hob feels like they should have heard something by now.] You don't think she was sent back to her world, do you?

For some definition of cooking, perhaps.

[ he watches as Hob pulls out the tool, but also watching Hob to gauge his condition. ]

I am not certain, but I understand that there would be some indication of her leaving, would there not?

[Pale skin isn't the most ideal sign, and could mean many things. Daan is glancing over Hob before giving a polite nod of his head.]

Of course. I'm sorry we're even meeting this way, but nothing to be done about it.

Now then. Get your ass to sitting down, and tell me what injuries you sustained. How you were treated after, and your current condition. Sorry to get right to business, but I want to be sure you're healing well after everything.

[He's tired and has a line of patients, but Daan isn't going to half-ass any of it.]

Even if Loki could tell that Dream was unimpressed or not, he wouldn’t care. As much as he’s appreciative of the help he hopes to get from Dream concerning his nightmares, right now he’s standing in between him and the only thing he cares about.

And it seems he doesn’t believe Loki’s presence has been requested. He would think that after all the years of not being believed he would get used to it, but in this moment, it annoys him more than he thought possible (which is really quite a lot). Part of him is tempted to hold up his device and wave the message in Dreams face, but he manages at least some restraint.

“I will not wake him, but I’m afraid he was quite insistent on my presence. May I come in?”

It's not that he doesn't believe him, but more that he was weighing Hob's need for rest versus his apparent wishes. But since this is his apartment (in Dream's mind), he can only honor the latter.

"If Hob has requested your presence, then you are welcome here." Moving gracefully but like someone who is unused to such gestures, Dream turns and steps slightly to the side, allowing Loki to finally cross the threshold to enter past the door.

Whether Dream actually believes him or not, Loki assumes these things. It’s a bit of a defence mechanism he’s used most of his life without fully realizing it. If he assumes everyone thinks the worst of him, he’s not surprised when he’s right. Also, he’s fractionally jealous of Dream. He gets to live here with Hob, see him all the time.

And maybe he’s noticed the similarities. Someone may have mentioned something to him once about Hob having a type and he has real trouble keeping that out of his mind when staring face to face with Dream.

He nods his head in thanks and passes through the doorway. He doesn’t see Hob in the living area and assumes he is asleep in his room. It worries him that Hob could be asleep so soon after requesting his presence, but is glad to hear he is indeed getting rest.

Keeping his voice low, he turns back to Dream. “May I have use of your kitchen? I have brought with me a tea that is quite reminiscent of one my mother used to brew for me when I was not well and I would like to make it for Robert.” Now that he’s in the apartment, much of the animosity Loki was feeling is gone, though he is still rather stiff, somehow expecting some sort of issues with Dream.

Dream closes the door after Loki enters, following behind him into the living area. He nods at the question though, glancing towards the kitchen as he does. "You may, as you are also welcome to use whatever you require."

He then turns his head to nod toward where Hob's room is, the door mostly closed but for a small sliver remaining open. "His sleep at current is light enough that he should wake naturally after a short while. He likely fell into dozing soon after he sent you the message."

If he’s surprised by that response, he tries to keep it off his face. Though really, nothing can compare to Dream’s constant stoic response to pretty much everything. Loki has always been better with slapping on a fake smile and forcing his way through anyway. He’s trying though, so he hopes (even if he doubts) that this time his emotions are being broadcast in a 10 mile radius around them.

A bland smile is fixed on his face as he nods slightly in thanks. “Would you like some tea as well? I have plenty.” His voice is still low as he makes his way towards the kitchen as Dream had indicated. He easily makes his way around the room, finding what he needs to brew the tea, even if it does take a few tries at finding everything in their cabinets. He will brew the tea first and then take it to Hob if he has awoken.

As Loki enters the kitchen, Dream actually moves more into the living space, taking a seat on the couch there, calling out to Loki in a way where his voice remains quiet but can still be heard clearly from the other room somehow. Magic of some kind, surely. "Only if you wish to prepare it. You did not come here for me, after all."

It's said stoically as with every way Dream presents himself, but it's not said judgmentally either. He is simply stating a fact.

If Dream thinks his method of communication is going to startle Loki, it doesn’t. He’s aware of what Dream is and assumes he must have some abilities and as far as magic goes, that sort of communication should be easy for the likes of him.

Loki answers as if Dream were standing next to him, assuming he could hear him anyway. Typically, if you could project, the idea was that you could hear the message in return. And if not, it isn’t as if this is a life or death situation. “I am brewing a pot, there will be plenty if you would like to try some.”

He might be jealous and worried about how close Hob and Dream might be, but he also knows that Hob cares a lot about Dream and therefore Loki will do his best to be polite, even if only just.

I'm sure you meet a lot of people this way, unfortunately.

[ Must come with the territory, right? But then he gets the doctors orders and is suddenly feeling more alert. ]

Uh, yes, sir.

[ Hob lets the doctor in and shuts the door behind him, then walks slowly to the couch where he can sit. His shirt is lifted enough to show the bandages around his middle. ]

I was cut here by his claws. One was pretty deep, so my friend stitched it up.

Sure, but I prefer if it's over a nice drink, you know.

[But Hob is a good patient who sits down as soon as he's told, showing the bandages. Daan sets down his bag full of medical supplies, and kneels down to open his bag. First, he snaps on a pair of latex gloves, fetching some additional items. Antibacterial gel, bandages, and so forth.]

I'm going to remove it and take a look for myself. After we're done, you'll have some new bandages.

That work for you?

Honestly, Dream isn't thinking about anything like trying to spook Loki. He figures that the god would be familiar with such methods and therefore had no qualms in using it, where it might have startled one unfamiliar with it. That, and he didn't care to crowd Loki or watch over him as he works in the kitchen while he himself had no reason to be in there. So to the couch he went.

"Then I will decline at this time. Should Hob like it, then more will be available for him. As well as for yourself." Since he already mentioned his mother made it for him when he was younger, Dream assumes he therefore has a preference for it.

I could always teach you a couple of things. I'm no expert, but basic stuff. Women love a man who can cook... which probably says a lot about my past relationships.

[ Hob is only joking a bit. In general, he's been pretty lucky with partners. The can is cranked, which puts a little strain on him, but hardly enough to bother him much. ]

Maybe there would be? It's just so strange...

Would you take the pot out of that cabinet and put it on the stove?

[ Bending over for that would actually be more difficult than opening the can. ]

[ A smile. ]

Then I hope I can pour you one next time. And yes, that would be great. Thank you.

[ At his words, Hob nods and pulls his shirt up the rest of the way to place it next to him. He sits forward on the couch so Daan has room to work. The stitching is not expert, but it's done the job, so long as Hob is being careful enough not to break them. ]
