[ A puppet cannot act on its own—its fate lies in the strings attached to it, always dancing to the whims of another. When he had been born, his strings were cut, and he was left on his own. But he was a puppet, and puppets cannot move on their own, so it was only fitting that another took up the role of puppeteer, and made him twirl in a dance of madness.

His strings were cut once again, but still, he wanted for direction, and thus willingly gave his strings to his savior. Here, they've been cut once more, and now there's no one left to control the puppet.

Gives me enough time to get familiar with the area, I suppose.

[ Actually, he's a little surprised Alhaitham isn't leading an effort to break out, since he'd been the mastermind behind Nahida's rescue. Still, he's given the Wanderer a lead to pursue, and he'll take what he gets for now. It's foreign to him—taking charge of his own actions, but he thinks, here, he'll have to try. ]
