for gojo😎 - tunnel of love carnival shenanigans
They're scoping out the apparent 'tunnel of love' ride right now. It's not an attraction he would be caught dead in back home, but they have to check out any mysterious occurrence they can here in hopes of understanding the kind of place they are in.
So far, nothing really seems out of the ordinary, besides the low quality set. He hardly knows anything about romance, but what about this dark room is going to invoke any feelings of intimacy?
He walks through the gaudy, heart-shaped door and musty curtains. ]
... None of the lights are working. [ or maybe that's meant to be ... romantic??? ]

( he's had a lifetime of pretending: a lifetime of measuring his desires, petulant or necessary, against the weight of the situation. even when he had been a child, fawned over and treated like a precious gem, he'd never pushed further than he thought he could, or whined to the extent of being called callous or extravagant. there's a balance to everything, to how far he can show his true feelings and how much of them has to remain behind a sunny facade; with megumi, he knows there's an understanding there, a heart warm and soft that would want to take care of him, but that isn't the position they're in. he isn't megumi's classmate, or even someone his own age--and no matter how mature megumi is, he knows better than to add another burden onto him.
it's his job to take those burdens away, the best that he can. so, they're in the tunnel of love. maybe it had been silly to ask, but he knew that megumi wouldn't let up until he went with him and did something outside of sorting through shouko's medicine and consuming increasing amounts of whipped cream and strawberries, and this way, megumi might get distracted enough with his discomfort not to ask.
hands slung into his pockets, he sets the pace, something slow and leisurely as they head through the first darkened part of the tunnel. )
If you're scared, we can hold hands. ( warm and teasing. ) Or, you know, we can just hold hands anyway. For a tunnel of love, you aren't really showing me much love.
sorry for late, i have a new cat
It's probably good, in a way, that this situation they are in is so ridiculous. It means he can focus on the absurdity of it and not those other thoughts in his mind.
Megumi is quite accustomed to the dark, given the sort of gift that he has, but that doesn't mean he can see in it. He's more cautious as he walks, not wanting to bump into anything or touch anything he shouldn't. As for whether or not he's scared, Gojo might not be able to see the expression on his face but he would certainly be able to imagine how flat it's looking. ] Wouldn't you be disappointed if I were scared of this ...
[ It would make him a failure of a sorcerer, probably. As for the hand holding, there's a bit of an awkward beat before he responds. ]
You get a lot of love already. [ From his groupies, probably. ]
no worries, take your time! ♥
( it's an easy truth, so it falls from his lips with nonchalance, warm and even--even if megumi's hands are fond of shadows, even if he lives his life in them, that doesn't mean the things that lurk in the shadows are always something that he can predict or even be mindful of, especially in a place like this. megumi is new to this strange city, and therefore, new to its peculiarities: no cursed energy, no people, and unsettling instances and strange happenings all the time.
with a soft hum, he lets them turn the corner: even without the six eyes, it's easy to see the garish red and pink decorations that start to line the walls, lit up by a few string lights along the top. there are hearts and stars and other pretty decorations, but they all seem a little off, like they're ready to fall right off the walls. )
A lot of love, huh. ( he twists to look up at the wall as they walk. ) I wouldn't say that. Are you saying you won't love me just 'cause someone else does? Don't give up so easily, Megumi.
no subject
Does he miss him? Yeah. Of course. How could he not? Even if it's never been easy to express.
The older man is halfway warm, and halfway teasing right now, and that always leaves Megumi in enough of a fluster he needs to let out a put upon sigh. ]
Don't say weird things. This isn't a date or anything.
Anyway ... [ Does he love him? If loving someone means being attached to them, caring about them, and missing them, then .. yeah. ] Nevermind.

( it's warm and amused, but he can tell he's hit a wall: he's hit that part of megumi that's too embarrassed to admit anything, but too stubborn to find some way around it. he's known him for long enough that he knows when to push, and when it's better to give some space; with a soft hum, he drops the subject and focuses his gaze on the wall again.
it's definitely strange. even in the dark, it feels like there's something beyond the wall, something that he just can't tell now. it's annoying to be so used to analyzing everything, and now, being forced to accommodate the weakness of the six eyes. )
Here. Let's hold hands.
>( --okay, maybe he hasn't dropped the subject entirely. pointedly, he holds out a large palm between them as they walk, waiting. )
for hu tao 👻 ferris wheel trauma
Sorry. I'll move him. [ Given that that monkey plushie is as big as a human, it seems to be taking up the entire other seat. Polite person that Megumi is, he decides not to be inconsiderate and move that plushie so it's sitting beside him instead. ]
no subject
Not at all! I think it'll make a lovely companion for the both of us.
[As she sat down, she gave a small smile toward him.] Although, you don't seem to be the type who would carry such a thing.
[....Or was he??]
sorry for late, i have a new cat
I'm not. It's too big to do anything with. [ Funnily, though, the look of it wasn't the problem.
He does think it's kind of cute. When he recalls how he got this monkey, the expression on his face appears more worn and irritated. ]-- It's a long story.
What a *cat*astrophe
[She said with a smirk. Even with how crowded it was, she didn't mind. It made her feel somewhat nostalgic with how crowded Liyue could be whenever there was festivities or something amazing that was happening.]
That is...if you are willing to share.
mio pls
... My father gave it to me. [Yet he doesn't sound pleased about that at all. ]
it was screaming to be said
.....Based on how you look, I'm assuming you don't like him, do you?
[But she was careful with how she said it. She didn't want to upset a protentional new friend after all!]
no subject
He was never around, so I couldn't even remember what he looked like. I don't know how I feel about him suddenly appearing out of nowhere in this place.
no subject
[She said with a sigh. While she would like to give her opinion, there wasn't much she could say. Not when she barely knew her own parents and she was mostly being taken care of by her grandfather. However, as she crossed her arms, she will say this.]
...But I suppose he might be trying to make up for lost time. I don't think he's fully expecting you to like him either.
no subject
[ He probably shouldn't be going on about his private matters to this stranger, though. There's a sigh, and he tries to relax more. ]
You are ...?
no subject
She gives her hand out to him.]
My name is Hu Tao. As in hu are you and tao are you?
[hur hur hur]
no subject
[ Said in the driest tone. He is hardly someone with any humour at all. Even if he's sitting beside a giant monkey plushie. ]
Fushiguro Megumi. Nice to meet you.
no subject
[And all with a huge smile on her face! And yet, based on how he didn't take her hand, she'll assume that he isn't one to warm up so easily. For now, she'll take it back and hopefully she would be able to befriend him.
But until then....?]
But it's nice to meet you too! I'm assuming that you just recently arrived to this place as well?
for kaneki🐛save the goldfish
So, after gaining a better understanding of what's around him, he was opting to find a spot to relax and read quietly when he does see an attraction that captures his interest. It's the goldfish scooping game, and there are numerous colourful goldfish, swimming around in a small basin. Paper scoopers and plastic bags are available at the side on a self-service basis to make up for the fact that there are essentially ... no staff to facilitate the game. ]
Isn't that basin too small for all of them? [ He feels bad for them, and like he wants to do something. ]
no subject
But at least this time there are people around and he can see an exit. So maybe it'll be okay.
maybe.
Still, he refuses to go inside any sort of building, sticking to the open areas instead because they certainly look and sound safer. He walks around the different stalls, eventually noticing someone staring at the goldfish game. ]
Ah... they are probably not real. [ he comments that, before he realizes he said it out loud ] Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to pry!
no subject
Because this carnival seemed to appear out of nowhere, right? [ So he wouldn't be surprised if those fishes were some sort of manifestation rather than actually alive. ] Or is there another reason you're saying that?
no subject
The carnival yes, but it's not just that.
There are no animals here. No birds in the sky, no rodents on the streets, not even bugs... [ Kaneki looks up at the blue sky ] Everything is sterile. We are the only living things in this place.
no subject
Something might have happened to the animals too. Alongside the people. [ Because there's a fair amount of evidence that there used to be someone living here. The houses feel desolated, but also lived in. ]
If these goldfish are some sort of supernatural apparition, I'm not sensing anything off it.
no subject
They might be robots... toys? [ or plastic. Or holograms. or magic. There are so many possibilities after living in this place ]
no subject
[ He would like to get a closer look, so he moves closer to the basin and squats down. ]
Is that your theory?
for yoshida 🐙 awkward small talk
So, the only reason he would enter this dark tunnel would be to investigate it. Nothing in this city feels right. This carnival had popped out of seemingly nowhere, and the rides are functional when no one seems to actually be managing them. It goes without saying that there's something supernatural going on, but he hasn't been able to find any real clues.
It's pitch dark, so he can't actually see where he's going. Nue might have some success seeing in the dark (being an owl), but it would be overkill to bring them out right now (and the space was too small). All he can do is grope his way around, hoping he doesn't hit something.
He ends up pressing his hand against what appears to be someone's ... chest? podkmryjdyj yeah
He just freezes when he realises what he's touching. ]
... Sorry.
no subject
or lack of.
his gaze attempts to penetrate the darkness ahead of him - the already dim venue became almost pitch black. the music is still softly chiming in the background, sometimes skipping tracks and repeating the same chorus continuously. but, before he could marvel on the concept that this tunnel not only has no water but was far more narrow and devoid of any actual people.
but, he may have concluded that too soon. while he saw a shadow come closer, he doesn't step back, instead he watches as it closes the distance between them and places what appears to be ... pale and thin hands right on his chest??? ]
...
[ he's quiet, almost like he's purposely making this more awkward than it has to be. he also hasn't moved, instead his eyes still looking down at the hands on his chest. ] I guess people do do this sort of thing here...
no subject
[ The moment he recognises that soft surface to be some guy's chest, Megumi releases his hand immediately, holding it protectively with a mortified expression on his face. That definitely just happened, yes. He doesn't know if he can truly go back from it. He recognises the voice immediately, and is in two minds about how he feels about it. On one hand, he's grateful that he's not being met with some dramatic, affronted response, and on the other ... he certainly recognises this voice as that unnerving guy from the baths.
They don't seem bothered at all, at least. This might be the only situation where it's a good thing that Yoshida is such an abnormality. ]
It was an accident ... [ One he's hoping to not repeat. ] Do you want something?
no subject
it's always interesting to see the moment when someone begins to compose themselves. it's clear that he's embarrassed despite all intents and purposes to keep it concealed. but, opposite to that, yoshida doesn't seem to mind all too much. though, that isn't to state that he was simply going to gloss over it. ]
An accident... [ he repeats in tune, before settling his eyes back on megumi's. ] I'd argue you were the one who seemed to want something. [ he points this back out, before he does eventually move on to another topic. ]
Were you looking for someone?
no subject
He was really hoping that this other boy would simply drop the topic and pretend it never happened, but they seem eager to get one last word in, and that's annoying. ] Nothing -- of that sort.
[ So awkward. Anyway. ] I'm just trying to find my way out of this place.
