that's besides the point. alhaitham, no; thancred, also no. so indeed, heine, and when he hears his own name heine jumps back up onto all four feet and barks, a little yelp of a noise coming from a puppy throat. (the wolf he became with don sounded much cooler.)
that's a yes. hopefully kaveh can tell that much. also, no birds should ever be heine's size, storybook or otherwise. ]

Well, I'm glad to hear that you'll admit to your nervousness around chickens. [ kaveh cants his head. ] You seem in good health, though. So it seems that these stories truly don't harm those who are transformed. I ought to give you a test, though, just to make sure you understand precisely what I'm saying.
[ hm. ] When doing the laundry, does Badou separate the whites from the colours? One bark for yes, two barks for no, and lie down on your stomach if you didn't know you were supposed to.

that's... also an extremely kaveh question to ask, and not entirely one that heine knows how to answer, mostly because it's badou who does the laundry and heine is only a man. he is the worst boyfriend. he doesn't help with this kind of thing. he lies down on his stomach, tilting his head back and forth, but then barks once, because if you're supposed to do it then badou probably does it, it's just that heine is bad at laundry.
whether this series of gestures will be of any use to kaveh at all, remains to be seen. ]

Ah, so Badou does the laundry, and you trust that he's doing it well. I do trust him to sort the whites and the colours, but somehow I got the sense that I shouldn't trust you to have known it. Remember, if the whites and the colours are mixed, you soon won't have any whites!
[ but kaveh rubs heine's head in a teasing matter; a small, please murmur of a laugh. ] But, well, this proves without a shadow of a doubt that you are indeed Heine. You are also the dog prince. There's a curse, isn't there? We ought to break it somehow, so you can speak properly to me once more. What say you that we go on a journey?
[ kaveh gives heine's paw a little squeeze, then holds out his arm. ] May I pick you up? It'll be a faster walk.

a journey doesn't sound bad either, though, because as much as heine doesn't mind being a puppy, he would probably rather be himself. still, he's not quite ready to let himself be picked up and carried, so he hops to his feet, shakes his fur out, and trots a few feet out in front. then he turns around in a rather defiant stance and barks for kaveh to follow him—look at him, so independent. short little legs, but he's got spirit.
heine's not fully sure what it is they're looking for, yet—the story tells him he'll know it when he sees it, but until then they're just going to have to look around the castle. or wherever they are. ]
