WHO: kaveh (
fussiest) & y'all!
WHAT: this is a perpetual catch-all for kaveh because i'm too lazy to make a new one every month. this is for closed starters, tag-ins, visits to kaveh's workshop and the like! be wild! be bold! be free!
WHERE: all around the city, and especially at kaveh's workshop, the pairidaeza architectural design studio in district 1
WHEN: everywhere! everywhen! all at once!
WARNINGS: bickering, probably - everything else will be warned for on a thread-by-thread basis

Ah, yes, that is certainly true. It saddens me to see beans treated in this careless way, helplessly exposed to such unpredictable temperatures.
[ He withdraws his hand from the bag of coffee beans. Whoever this man is, he fully deserves it. ]
Oh, I insist you take this bag of coffee beans. They should go to someone who understands the intricacies of the drink. I'm sure you will treat these beans with care, and I'm confident you will grind them to an appropriate grain, one that fully draws out its best flavor.
[ Forget about the coffee beans! There are more important things that have his attention, namely, someone who finally appreciates a good cup of coffee. ]
Haha, where are my manners. Please, call me Chesed.
no subject
Well, Mister Chesed, now that we're acquainted, I'd like you to know that I won't let a fellow coffee-lover think he's any less deserving of the beans. There's another bag just under it that suits my needs just fine regardless. I'm Kaveh, I'm an architect - though like I keep saying, that title doesn't mean much around these parts when there's nothing to build.
By the by, did you pick up a grinder from the stores around these parts? The ones they have here aren't that great, are they.
no subject
This is rather unexpected, but Chesed's not about to decline a gift. After all, that would be rude, wouldn't it? Instead, he offers his company a smile. ]
No need to be so formal. Just "Chesed" is fine with me. And it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance as well, Kaveh.
[ He files away the information about Kaveh's job title. An architect without any buildings to design, how unfortunate. Surely, there must be something he could use his talents to construct?
His company's next line of questioning cuts off those thoughts. Ah. The accursed coffee grinders. Chesed can only nod with a sigh. ]
I have, and I must unfortunately find myself agreeing with your review. The mills in stock only have a single grind type option available.
[ He wrinkles his nose. It's simply unacceptable. ]
Every coffee grinder should have the option for coarse grinds or fine grinds.
no subject
[ and because this is kaveh: ] Now, I must agree. And vehemently so. And not only do the options ought to run between coarse or fine grinds, but it also ought to give us the options for all the different grinds in between. How fine should be something that I ought to be able to control! How else would I get the full taste out of some these beans; they've been over-roasted to begin with, so they're naturally bitter, and I want a fine grind but not one so fine that it brings out even more of the bitter.
[ kaveh looks to chesed, conspiratorial. ] You're a fine man with excellent taste. Let me take care of you - I've adjusted my grinder to have the right settings on it. I'll do one for you as well.
no subject
Or rather, perhaps it will be the resourcefulness of the City's residents that will rescue the good name of coffee.
Chesed arches a brow, impressed by every single word that's coming out of Kaveh's mouth. ]
My, I hadn't even thought to try and adjust a grinder to fine tune its options. Then again, I've never been particularly good with tinkering~
[ There's a bright smile on his face at the sound of Kaveh's generosity; this is, wholeheartedly, the best piece of news he's heard from anyone since his arrival. ]
Goodness, Kaveh, you are simply too kind.
no subject
[ it's not as if, kaveh thinks, that alhaitham doesn't enjoy a good brew, it's just that he's far less picky than kaveh is and has a tendency to have the most baffling opinions about bloom ratios known to mankind. a better conversation partner about the topic is a rare thing indeed. ]
Now, where can I find you once I've tweaked a grinder to our satisfaction?
no subject
So this is what the City does to those who've been mired in it for several months longer than him. Perhaps, in time, he will grow spiteful towards it too.
Chesed's smile never falters, even at Kaveh's following question. "Where can I find you once I've tweaked a grinder to our satisfaction?" he asks. Fortunately, that answer is very simple. ]
Are you familiar with the cemetery of the City's Park? You can likely find me there, as it's where I've been enjoying most of my days. Ah, but I suppose if you stopped by there, I wouldn't be able to offer you a brewed drink to express my thanks. There's not a stove or a kettle to be found out there, unfortunately.
[ He's busy touching grass. The local cemetery is a perfectly reasonable place to live, even if there's not a single kitchen in the area. ]
no subject
Um. [ kaveh first says, because he's extremely eloquent, and because what just came from chesed's mouth needed more than a few seconds to process. the cemetery. kaveh ought not judge, he thinks. but he's known a vampire, and not even the vampire lives there, so perhaps he's judging just a little. ] Why the cemetery? You're, ah.
[ kaveh looks, just in case. ] Are you of a species that thrives best in the cemetery?
no subject
Oh, no. I'm a completely ordinary human.
[ "Ordinary" doing quite a bit of heavy lifting, of course. ]
You see, it's rather nice out there. Plenty of fresh grass with a serene atmosphere, an excellent spot for getting some shut-eye. Oh, and it's quiet too, which is nice. I've spent so much time indoors, so I haven't quite gotten over the novel experiences of being outside again.
[ As said. Perfectly reasonable place to live, Kaveh. ]
no subject
still, kaveh hazards, so long as the man is happy, and he isn't causing harm to himself or anyone else. he wonders if hu tao knows about the man. she likes cemeteries too, though perhaps for different reasons.
rather, here is the more important question: ]
Well, where do you go to brew coffee, then?
no subject
It seems Kaveh, on the other hand, will receive a true answer from Chesed. ]
At the moment, I am limited to pourover, as it requires the simplest equipment. I've co-opted a corner at the Bookstore for my experiments, you see, though it occurs to me that I've no space for receiving guests to share coffee.
[ He wears a pensive expression and rubs his chin with a hand. ]
Though... I suppose I'll need a real kitchen to share coffee with a friend more frequently. Hmhm, how convenient that I may be moving to live under a roof with a group of my former colleagues~
no subject
now, kaveh looks. how had he not wondered? for whom had he been building? ]
A roof that contained a coffee bar. [ kaveh says, and he is smiling. ] And perhaps we can also meet at the host club where there is another coffee bar set. And now that we've met, I've suddenly realised - would it not be grand to have another coffee bar at the bookstore? What could pair better on a winter's day than a good book and a good cup of coffee?
So you're Netzach's colleague, and Angela's employee, and Midnight's new host.
