[ open ] kaveh's permanent catch-all

WHO: kaveh ([personal profile] fussiest) & y'all!
WHAT: this is a perpetual catch-all for kaveh because i'm too lazy to make a new one every month. this is for closed starters, tag-ins, visits to kaveh's workshop and the like! be wild! be bold! be free!
WHERE: all around the city, and especially at kaveh's workshop, the pairidaeza architectural design studio in district 1
WHEN: everywhere! everywhen! all at once!
WARNINGS: bickering, probably - everything else will be warned for on a thread-by-thread basis

[ It's been a right hassle to get the forge constructed, with the lack of equipment in the city. The firebrick was easy enough to arrange, but then came the nozzle, and that was where they met their first, and biggest bottleneck. Unlike the Kshahrewar architect, all precise lines and calculations and hypothetical outcomes, the Wanderer never learned the exact mathematics behind the forge. What he knows is learned through experience, of having seen them in action, of assisting in swordsmithing and learning to maintain and repair the forges himself.

What he knows of other kinds of forges has also been through observation and practical experience. He's never really let the skill die out of him, even if he refused to practice Inazuman smithing after the supposed betrayal by Niwa. He went on to learn how to forge other kinds of weapons, through traditional and modern means, with double chambered bellows, with Anemo powered blowers, with the steel of Snezhnaya, and the steel of Sumeru and Natlan and every other region in Teyvat.

But it is Inazuman forging that he feels most comfortable in, and it is Inazuman forging he wants to practice again, here in this city. So it is with a razor sharp eye that he criticizes Kaveh's models and demands nothing less than perfection, which is a departure from his usual willingness to bend to others' desires. No, if this was to be his, than it would be his.

...still won't be good enough, but have it your way. You'll see what I mean.

[ As for the billows, the design of which they'd also been debating, the Wanderer roughly pats the wooden box that he's set next to the forge, which has a handle facing him and a circular hole near its bottom facing the fire pit of the forge. ]

Barring Anemo powered blowers, this is the best design for our purposes. Most types of bellows use leather and wood for its creation, but this one is made almost entirely of wood, with some cotton to seal the gaps and ease the movement between the box's sides and the plank within. The materials are easier to find in the city. Not to mention this design is far more compact and will allow us to utilize the space better. I've already built a working prototype here.

[ He demonstrates by pulling back and forth on the handle. Movement both ways causes air to blast out of the circular hole facing the forge while the top flaps by the handle open and close accordingly to allow air into the chamber of the bellows. ]

Hopefully. It's taken far too long to finish building this.

[ He can't help but feel a little impatient, now that they were getting so close to a working forge. But Kaveh is right. This should be the last time they have to remake the nozzle. Their goal was almost in their grasp, and he feels a little antsy.

He relinquishes the box to Kaveh, stepping aside to allow the architect to play with the box bellows.
]

It won't be as powerful as the kind of bellows used in Fontaine and Mondstadt, but power isn't what we need anyway. It's consistency. And the more fans you introduce, the more variation there will be in the airflow. Every extra part is just another potential point of failure. Simple is better in this case.
