WHERE: A bowling alley, just some regular one in District 2

( Angela technically put the onus on Roland to invite everyone bowling, mostly because she didn't think any of them would want to go with her—so he's probably responsible for gathering them all... but she's responsible for getting there early, despite also telling him "tell me when you go bowling". Her managerial talents just can't leave well enough alone—

Anyway, there's bowling (obviously), so go bowl. She's also been helpful and put out all available food on the counters and tables here, so go crazy. And... for drinks, there's the regular water and soda and such, but there's also several bottles of champagne and matching flutes for it.

She's also taken some CDs and a stereo from one of the shops around the city, so instead of just eerie silence or whatever, there's music. She just grabbed whatever she could find. Don't judge her.

[ so they're asleep, in a way. they didn't die. roland didn't kill them. the blood on his hands that he thought he acquired from the library... they weren't real?

he gives angela an incredulous look like "why the FUCK did you not say anything from the beginning?!" ]

You should've said so from the beginning, though. [ he said, a touch irate. ] Everyone here thought they had to kill again, y'know?

And as I said, they were as good as dead anyway. I never planned on them waking up.

( but why hadn't she just gotten rid of them in the first place? why does she insist on keeping people around? making a deal with the sephirah and having them help her out, not letting the guests truly rest, maintaining some level of distance here as if being their boss actually matters and it really does not—

angela presses her lips together, then finally sighs. )

But fine. Sorry. ( is she? maybe. a little, yeah. ) To be frank, as copies, they're made of light—so I don't know what's going to happen to them once I achieve my goals and make my final decision.

[ Sliding back in here... It's one thing to learn of a future in which the Library, banished after a direct encounter with the Head, releases its collected books for reasons yet to be determined, resulting in all of those people unexpectedly being restored. Angela's explanation now, however, implies that she knowingly withheld the truth when they confronted her early on. Netzach, Malkuth, Hod... They voiced their objections openly then.

It's difficult not to feel upset; Yesod presses his lips together in kind. Still, he stays silent for the time being to examine his thoughts on the matter.

Presumably Angela considered it an irrelevant detail, an unnecessary distinction to make when every reception would feel real, and every death no less so. And yet, consciously storing people in stasis even indefinitely adds another dimension to her chosen approach to pursuing her goals. ]
