[MINGLE, ESPECIALLY TO NEWCOMERS] ROOFTOP FESTIVITIES!!!
WHO: All!
WHAT: Rooftop festivities!
WHERE: On a rooftop of an office building in the second open district!
WHEN: 8/14, evening!
WARNINGS: alcohol, tba as it goes

Banner displayed inside the train station, outside city hall, and on the most used residence buildings.
Follow the arrows.
So you're unaware. Maybe new. Or maybe you just didn't care the first time you saw it. That's fine. Between the banners hanging around key areas, and the flyers quickly drawn up in a similar fashion scattered across the city, it's hard not to know something is going on -- and there's helpful arrows, chalked on building walls and the streets the day of the party, to let people know where to go.
The Rooftop

A splendid scene awaits those who travel heavensward. Fairy lights connect the corners of the roof access building to metal poles at the corners of the building itself, lifted by cylindrical supports where needed, each one held straight by pots filled with well-packed dirty and stone. There's multicolored stars hanging from some of the lights, while various painted flowers hang on others, and what greets the ears first is some royalty free party music played from a CD player off the the side.
There's a long folded out table in the center for those who'd like to share cuisine, just set and serve yourself! Nearby is a space for Daan to do some bartending as well, a man who can make a multitude of cocktails and mocktails for those who want something less alcoholic. Also, pints of various ice cream flavors in a cooler!
Don't worry -- they won't have any odd effects on them, Don verified the lack of them herself. Not all of them are normal. Think loaded baked potato weird.
For those who'd like a quieter space, there's beanbags and a swirly, fuzzy carpet to sit on more away from the center of the party area. This'll be a great time to play some games, such as truth or dare, spin the bottle, and... whatever else you play at parties. Get to know your fellow man and such. Play the violin.
Naturally, no party... hosted... by Don Quixote would be without a space to fight, if one wishes to show off a little! It's also taking place on a swirly fuzzy carpet, just so no one smashes their head in, and there's a neat little banner hanging down from a string of lights that says thus:
WIN THREE MATCHES AND A PRIZE AWAITS THEE!!!!!!!
- NO KILLING
- HANDS ONLY
What the prize is, no one knows. But come find Don Quixote with your battle scars and she'll grant it -- and stick around a while, 'cause this party's gonna end with a bang... that is, with homemade fireworks donated by "a friend" through Junpei.
Anyway, have fun!!! Share words about your worlds!!! The society your characters are from, the cuisine they've brought, how they're working out in the city -- help the new kids along, too. There's more vets here now than there were a few months ago, after all.

[okay he'll actually snort at that because wtf]
no subject
Midnight grins. Well, it's a start. ]
Tell me your name. Call me Midnight.
no subject
...Midnight? Was Dawn taken? The name's Vergilius.
no subject
Vergilius... Lovely. You know, I have no idea if "Dawn" was taken. I was surprised when Midnight was approved, seems like the sort of thing one would want for a codename. Perhaps they were saving it for me.
[ ... Backstory unlocked...? ]
no subject
What, are you some kind of agent? Spy?
no subject
[ Midnight shrugs. ]
In practice, we're more of an oddjobs service than a combat unit. Lots of private investigation, some light sorties, but the more serious missions go to the veterans.
no subject
[That actually sounds like...]
You sound like a Fixer. My profession. Though most Fixers don't do anything as fancy as being in a reserve army or something.
no subject
[ Midnight drains the rest of his drink, sighs happily. That was a good one. Can't wait for more. ]
You sound like Miss Gebura. Are you acquainted with her? Gorgeous woman, red hair, tongue on her like fire.
[ ... So he likes her a bit! ]
no subject
[Giving him a little bit of a >:/ look.]
Are you harassing her?
no subject
No. Although I'm sure someone harassing her would say much the same thing. Either way, I wouldn't be standing here talking about it if she was opposed to my attention, I think. Rather the type to humble others, isn't she? Incredible woman.
no subject
She's out of your league. Stop shooting for the stars.
no subject
[ Midnight has no brakes for this kind of thing, when it comes down to it. It's fascinating to come across people who do! ]
no subject
no subject
This is why one asks. I never would've thought of that.
[ Seriously. He has thought about these things in terms of a competition exactly once in his whole life. Never again, mostly because there's no reason. ]
Why aren't you interested in her, may I ask? Otherwise engaged?
no subject
[Sometimes it's as simple as that!]
...And no. [With an incredibly dry tone:] I'm not engaged with anyone. That isn't an invitation.
no subject
Different strokes. I'm not really concerned about an invitation, either, especially since... No, I'm not looking for anything of dire importance.
[ Cryptic. It makes perfect sense to him, though. He's very tipsy. Of course it does. ]
no subject
no subject
[ This is the very thoughtful stare a very drunk person often gives when they're very focused on you and want you to know it. ]
You said you weren't interested. Why ask? Just curious?
no subject
[It almost seems like that's all he's going to say, with a pause, but he continues.]
Either you have no idea what you want. Or you do know what you want, but you're acting this way to hide it. Out of fear of judgement or whatever, I don't know. Or the third option, you're lying to yourself about what you want.
So, what do you want, Midnight?
*sends up the bat signal* don help DON HELP PLEASE
What I'd like... Is to find us a room. An unoccupied one. Plenty of that sort of thing around here. I'd like to lock the door. I'd like for you to say yes to whatever I'd like... or to say yes to whatever you'd like.
[ ... This grin is a little unbalanced, but it's followed by another laugh. It breaks his little moment. ]
What I want is for you to have a lovely time at this party, so long as you've found yourself here. Is that clear enough?
DON CAN'T HELP YOU NOW
[He stares at him for a good long moment, red eyes a little brighter than normal - its not a sign of pleasure, as the scowl on his face seems more exhausted than usual.]
Fool I am to expect a straight answer from someone's who's half a moment away from a drunken coma. Anyways. No. [A shake of the head for good measure.] What's that nonsense about "finding yourself here", too?
puts my head in my hands
I'll be direct next time, then. [ noooOOOOO ]
Well, you certainly haven't lost yourself. That's what parties are for, you know... Letting go for a bit.
no subject
[The next part...is met with a bit of silence for a moment, his gaze cast elsewhere, nowhere.]
Don't think I could even if I wanted to.
no subject
[ ... Oh, Verg. If only you knew. ]
No, huh. You the sort that lives to work, then?
no subject
Work is all that there is. Day in and day out. The higher you go, the more the job becomes you.
