[MINGLE, ESPECIALLY TO NEWCOMERS] ROOFTOP FESTIVITIES!!!

WHO: All!
WHAT: Rooftop festivities!
WHERE: On a rooftop of an office building in the second open district!
WHEN: 8/14, evening!
WARNINGS: alcohol, tba as it goes

Banner displayed inside the train station, outside city hall, and on the most used residence buildings.

Follow the arrows.

So you're unaware. Maybe new. Or maybe you just didn't care the first time you saw it. That's fine. Between the banners hanging around key areas, and the flyers quickly drawn up in a similar fashion scattered across the city, it's hard not to know something is going on -- and there's helpful arrows, chalked on building walls and the streets the day of the party, to let people know where to go.

The Rooftop

A splendid scene awaits those who travel heavensward. Fairy lights connect the corners of the roof access building to metal poles at the corners of the building itself, lifted by cylindrical supports where needed, each one held straight by pots filled with well-packed dirty and stone. There's multicolored stars hanging from some of the lights, while various painted flowers hang on others, and what greets the ears first is some royalty free party music played from a CD player off the the side.

There's a long folded out table in the center for those who'd like to share cuisine, just set and serve yourself! Nearby is a space for Daan to do some bartending as well, a man who can make a multitude of cocktails and mocktails for those who want something less alcoholic. Also, pints of various ice cream flavors in a cooler!

Don't worry -- they won't have any odd effects on them, Don verified the lack of them herself. Not all of them are normal. Think loaded baked potato weird.

For those who'd like a quieter space, there's beanbags and a swirly, fuzzy carpet to sit on more away from the center of the party area. This'll be a great time to play some games, such as truth or dare, spin the bottle, and... whatever else you play at parties. Get to know your fellow man and such. Play the violin.

Naturally, no party... hosted... by Don Quixote would be without a space to fight, if one wishes to show off a little! It's also taking place on a swirly fuzzy carpet, just so no one smashes their head in, and there's a neat little banner hanging down from a string of lights that says thus:

WIN THREE MATCHES AND A PRIZE AWAITS THEE!!!!!!!
- NO KILLING
- HANDS ONLY

What the prize is, no one knows. But come find Don Quixote with your battle scars and she'll grant it -- and stick around a while, 'cause this party's gonna end with a bang... that is, with homemade fireworks donated by "a friend" through Junpei.

Anyway, have fun!!! Share words about your worlds!!! The society your characters are from, the cuisine they've brought, how they're working out in the city -- help the new kids along, too. There's more vets here now than there were a few months ago, after all.

[ Hmm. Maybe that doesn't meet whatever criteria might exist in the minds of those who thought up the orientation survey questions. ]

I'd like to resubmit this suggestion alongside others, if you agree to it. Could you provide the full list of animals to include?

[ HELP... But in the interest of conducting what tests they can, he can act as a fellow animal lover dreaming of a zoo. Moreover, this city is very empty — it's unlikely that anything would suddenly materialize "out and about"... ]

I will outline the zoo's requested features as you envision them.

[ Pausing, he gives this question some thought, too. It sounds earnest, an extension of Don Quixote's efforts hosting this party — not an attempt to bring the conversation to a close. This is Don's chance to seize for the sake of shooting the shit. ]

...Is there anything else of note that you would share with newcomers?

[ Hatefully, Yesod finds it important to absorb all of this information as well, listening intently. Some parts are more relevant in his view than the rest — the cautionary canaries, for instance, and the likelihood that the convenience of addressing everyday needs here isn't without its price — but even if he has no plans to go bowling until Roland makes it happen or experiment with "acidic bubbles," he'll visit the bowling alley as recommended to discover what exactly there is to see at night. ]

Thank you. I'll heed your advice, then. But these dangerous areas, such as the bank... What have you experienced there?

I see.

[ The way forward... That declaration alone makes Don Quixote an unusual individual.

As for the bank and memories triggered, it's enough to be aware of the possibility of witnessing strange occurrences in this place. ]

Now, since you've answered my questions, do you have any requests in return?

[ Staggered.... But he will reply soon enough, one by one. Don Quixote has been forthcoming with her information, and there is no reason to withhold the answers to these questions. ]

...I practice yoga in my spare time. While I enjoy reading, it's primarily for the sake of learning. If you have recommendations to retell, I am open to listening. I have a dream that I wish to see fulfilled, yes... It would be inaccurate to describe myself as close to Roland or Gebura, but Gebura and I have worked together for some time now. Justice... is a concept that different people may define in different ways. One must take care not to allow personal biases to influence that definition.

[ Bouncy castles... Hm. That seems specific. ]

Could you elaborate on your vision concerning bouncy castles? Lastly, I am fond of eggplants.

Your decision not to provide a bouncy castle was sensible. It would be best to leave it for a larger ground level venue.

[ It's all too easy to imagine the described consequences of a bouncy surface used recklessly on a rooftop. It's also likely that no one feels that the party is missing a vital element without the inclusion of a bouncy castle. ]

With regard to eggplants, yes, the color is pleasing, as is the taste. They are reasonably versatile.

[ What does Angela like... Bringing up potatoes seems quite specific as well, but unlike Malkuth, Don Quixote appears to harbor some dislike for them. Yesod gives her a quizzical look. ]

If you are interested in eggplant dishes, I may be able to prepare one for you.

[ As he adjusts to actually needing to eat and sleep again... ]

Potatoes also have their uses, but I presume you prefer to avoid them?

Then, when I've found a place to settle here, I'll fulfill my promise.

[ He may have enough skill to introduce Don to eggplants, but is he equipped to provide a better experience eating potatoes? Roland comes to mind instead. ]

Do you dislike the taste or the texture of potatoes?

[ Perhaps Don Quixote could eat them, as long as they are mixed with other ingredients — unless that strikes her as cowardly. ]

[ Potatoes cut into adorable shapes are a new concept to him — but then, he has no real recollection of eating them himself, boring lumps or otherwise, nothing in recent memory. He takes in Don Quixote's potato grievances, however, nodding to accept her explanation. ]

Another colleague of mine is partial to them. [ And said colleague can't be described as bland at all... ] If she were here, she might have some input to offer. But what about Roland? Have you asked him for suggestions?

[personal profile] wordchain 2023-09-10 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[ That is a fair point. Don Quixote's decision to overcome her aversion to potatoes must have been a very recent one indeed. ]

It seems to be an area of interest for him. No doubt most of my colleagues have experienced it a number of times.

[ But not all of them — Hokma and Binah, for example — and Roland seems to get along with some more than others. ]

Gebura and Netzach may have more to tell you, as they have spent time with Roland in a relatively casual setting.

[ The Floor of Art... with the floor littered with cans... ]
