[ Was it really so long ago you were calling her an evil super villain, Peter :( The reality is that being talked about at all is probably still foreign. Thanos had always made a point that she was nothing, just spare parts, and he wasn't talking about her at all to others. ]

... Nothing useful. A young woman thinks it may be something called psionic science, from her world. That whoever is in control must be acting under stringent protocols. [ Amusedly, if you know her: ] Others think it's a bonding exercise.

Oh, good. So maybe they'll have us doing trust falls next. Or maybe we'll be doing scavenger hunts? That should be fun.

[ Grunted, because isn't that what they're doing basically every day?? Maybe if they stop doing it something will show up (it won't). ]

Different kind of scavenger hunt. Like giving everyone a list with blank spots for names that say shit like, "Find someone with seven siblings," or "Find someone who owns more than three pets."

[ You know. The dreaded ice breakers. ]

I can see experiment, though. Sounds just stupid and plausible enough to be the truth.

Can't imagine what kind of experiment they're trying to run here, though.

[ Thankfully you never had to deal with ice breakers OR personality quizzes under Thanos. Maybe he truly was merciful. ]

They've left us to our own devices too much for it to be a true experiment.

Yeah. It was awful.

[ If nothing else, a life as a space pirate meant he never had to do another ice breaker game again. He wouldn't go so far as to thank either Ego or Yondu for that, but it was one of many small perks. ]

Maybe they expect us to eventually start earning our keep. Start running all these abandoned shops.

[ Maybe Peter will get to be a bartender. He'd be so good!!! ]

[ Noncommittal, maybe with a touch of she'd stab anyone who thought to try and make her do such nonsense. The stupid sharing of items the last few weeks was bad enough, she still wanted to strangle someone for it. ]

The bank would start needing to carry something of value, then. And you'd have terrible customer service.

[ Said with a thin-bladed smile of nearly hidden amusement, because Nebula wouldn't be good at it either. ]

[ Peter cuts her a narrow-eyed look at that – as if to say, "I'd be great at customer service," – but a quick moment of consideration eventually earns her a tip of his head to one side, as if conceding the point. Maybe he could fake it, for a little while (the bright smile that didn't reach his eyes, the "sirs" and "ma'ams" and "have a good ones" that come part and parcel with the service industry), but eventually he'd probably lose his shit after one too many "let me talk to your managers." ]

That gets us right back to thieving, then.
