Hob doesn't entirely know what Dream is, though he has a name to go on, now. He's done a lot of reading about various powerful entities of myth and legend, but he's not sure he can place his friend, nor does he want to make any assumptions that would anger him. If it's a question of Dream's identity, however, the answer is simple, at least for Hob. Dream is his oldest and dearest friend. Hob doesn't really need to know more than that.
