[Upon hearing the word "ridiculous", Fumikage huffs in irritation before turning away. His love of the gothic and occult had always been something he was self-conscious of, knowing how silly and edgy and, dare he say, cringe it might look to others. His classmates had been rather accepting of his odd affinity, which he was grateful for; hearing another so blatantly call out how ridiculous it was rubbed him the wrong way and filled him with anger. Who cares if it was ridiculous? It was cool, it was something he enjoyed. Just what was this guy's problem?]

[Turned away as he was, forcing his focus onto a display of tarot cards in front of him, he misses the way the LED circle flashes on Connor's forehead. But at the other man's gentler words, Fumikage glances back at the other man, staring warily for a moment before letting out a slow breath.]

...I had always had an affinity for the occult. Things that are gothic and mystical, stories of those who dwell in darkness, and artifacts that reflect the darker elements have always intrigued me. Not to mention, my own abilities grow stronger in the dark, so there is an affinity between these dark concepts and my own self.

[Even if his Quirk has lost much of its power since coming here, Dark Shadow was still a part of him. He wouldn't trade his Quirk for any other.]

Such concepts often make people uncomfortable; people tend to fear the mystery of the unknown, or that which lurks within the darkness. But not everything that dwells within shadow is inherently evil. In fact, there can be a beauty in that which others fear. And sometimes, the best way to protect others from the darkness is to know it, and understand it. Like the moon which shines through the dark sky, guiding lost souls through the night...

[He's starting to wax dramatic, and he catches himself before he goes any further. He gives Connor another wary look before turning to look at the displays again.]

...at least, that is what I think. Ridiculous as it may be, I do not believe it harms anyone to enjoy fanciful things.

[He says it with a hint of defensiveness in his tone.]
