[Or- wait a minute. Is it? What's really going on here? His mind trails back to what Izuku had said near City Hall, and Connor has a sudden sneaking suspicion, his stomach dropping. While it would explain a lot of things going on, it's certainly not an ideal situation.
What if- what if Cyberlife abducted him on his way to meet Hank? What if they were experimenting on him right now, executing programmed scenarios within his mind palace to gauge his reactions? What if he's the deviant they've chosen to study, not being able to get their hands on any others thanks to his...lack of conviction in his mission? Had he escaped from Amanda at all? Has everything from her (attempted?) hijacking of his processes been a virtual reality nightmare that he's still trapped within? Maybe this city is a product of Cyberlife's programmers...? He'd never trust a psychic, but maybe she's a stand-in for Amanda, a fortuneteller giving him an oddly accurate reading of past and possibly future events, dependent on his actions, along with "people" to interact with as he makes his choices. It makes sense, doesn't it? It's not reassuring, but at least it's an explanation he can understand for this strange place he's found himself in.
Fine. He's aware of it now, despite their trickery, and he knows what to do. He registers a new directive pinned in the corner of his HUD: Locate Kamski's Exit. Now he has a plan. He simply needs to trudge his way through this scenario until such time as he finds that glowing arch. He's sure they won't make it easy for him, but he has to believe they haven't clipped that particular piece of code from his systems; after all, Amanda had never taken notice of it before, had she?
He rolls his shoulders, forcing himself to relax, for his cycling red LED to settle into a calm and steady blue. When he looks at his companion once again, there's a new indulgent smile on his face.]
Forgive me. Rather than jumping to conclusions and assuming I'm correct, I should listen to what others have to say about things I'm no expert on. Please continue- what do you like about those concepts?
