I think so, too. Or, at the very least, that she would worry about him. When dealing with those we care about, we often avoid telling them the whole truth if there's any chance it might upset them.

He trusted her enough to tell her his idea, she wanted to know, but he wanted to show their mentor first. I think this scene here is what transpired of that.
