Well... it was my choice, at least. I had an adjustment period of sorts. Met a lot of good people through basic, too. I miss them.

This was quite sudden for all of us, I think. There isn't much preparation anyone can do for something this large and unprecedented. I don't think there's much shame in not knowing what's supposed to happen next. No one is born with a deeply felt desire for their freedom to be taken from them, after all. This isn't something one plans for, either.
