[ It doesn't take too long for Daniel to show up. The guy is - if nothing else - punctual, after all. He wouldn't want to make Hob wait for him for too long, so even though he smiles the moment he enters the place and spots the other at the bar, there's something sheepishly guilty at the edges of it. ]

Hey! I-- I hope you weren't waiting for too long already.

[ It doesn't sound like it's eating him up or anything though, at least. Instead the smile just grows a little more genuine as he actually moves to sit down. ]

What are you having?

[ Hob isn't sure what plans Dream might have for the holiday, but if he's not around or out soon to visit Vanessa, Hob won't blame him. In the morning, Hob is up and making some breakfast. Enough for two, should Dream want to join him.

As for Hob, it's been a month since the werewolf incident and he's mended well. He's gotten most of his energy back, but he still shouldn't overexert himself. Hob just counts himself lucky that the injury didn't go deeper than it could have. ]

Hob won't judge anyone for their one-night stands, no matter how numerous they are. There was a time when his track record might have rivaled anyone's, but as he said, those days are behind him and he prefers to live differently than when he was younger. Maybe there were others who had shown an interest, but back home, Hob had to feel as though he could trust someone. If things grew between them, they would eventually need to know about his circumstances, and there are those who might take advantage of his secret.

"I'm so lucky to have you." Hob tenderly brushes his fingers back through Loki's hair over his ear. "Every day is richer now." Hob was falling into a bit of a rut in his life here. Loki's confession came along at the best time.

[ of late, Dream has been trying to explore the City through the dreams of others at night while most are asleep. with the limitations placed on him, his reach isn't that far, which is just galling to him, but he's been focusing more on it the past week or so, staying in his bedroom for privacy. more for Hob's privacy than his though, should Hob have ... ahem, guests. and also so he doesn't startle Hob in the morning, finding Dream standing stock still in the middle of the living room.

so when morning comes, a number of people start to wake which further limits his reach, then he hears Hob awake and moving within the flat anyway. he ends his explorations for the night and steps out of his room. ]

Good morning, Hob.

[ Aside from the visit from Loki at Hob's request (and perhaps to get those clothes for Vanessa?), Hob has not had his boyfriend over. Loki seems a bit wary of Dream, and Hob doesn't want to push the two to get along, but appreciates how civil they have been toward each other for his sake. Given that Vanessa stayed the night after her return, Hob has wondered if she'd spend more nights here, and he would welcome her if she did.

Looking over his shoulder from the stove, Hob smiles. ]

Good morning, Dream. Did you rest well?

[ Hob isn't sure if that has any meaning for Dream, but Dream was in his room all night. ]

For some definition of rest, perhaps. It was somewhat productive, notwithstanding.

[ he enters the kitchen, stepping into it and pausing with enough distance so as to not crowd Hob. ]

And you?

Productive?

[ So that's what Dream has been doing shut in his room. Hob hopes he's not pushing himself too hard. ]

I always have a hard time sleeping on Christmas Eve. Happy Christmas, by the way.

[ A smile is passed to Dream, since he obviously did not forget it, judging by the santa looking plate of pancakes with a whipped cream beard and chocolate chip eyes he passes to Dream. ]

Somewhat.

[ vague, as ever. but he looks more actively curious with something Hob says anyway. ]

Why, particularly? If memory serves, you came of age when it was twelve days of festivities.

[ his gaze is then dropped down to the plate that's offered to him ... with raised eyebrows. ]

No one is more surprised than Loki that he’s had a one night stand (or two) since arriving. Before being brought here, it had been an age since he’d bothered to even try to bed someone. All his time has been taken up with rather unpleasant events that had anything romantic or sexual about as far from his mind as can be. Arriving in the city had meant that everything had suddenly stopped and Loki found himself with too much free time on his hands. He doesn’t regret anything he’s done, but he knows that anything with Hob is different, special and he no longer cares to do anything of the sort with anyone else.

“I don’t believe anyone has said that to me before.” He speaks lowly, a bit of a shaky smile on his face as he tries not to turn into a blathering, over-emotional fool. “I am the one who is lucky. You are the most wonderful person I have had the pleasure of meeting and I feel honoured that you enjoy my company.”

I don't know. I mean, it's not like I ever really celebrated when I was young. I could barely scrape two coins together back then. But there's something special about that night, I guess.

[ Hob still holds that plate out as he speaks, just waiting fo Dream to accept it. ]

Surely, many people have dreams that night.

Frequently, yes, of all varieties of the winter celebrations.

[ he eventually accepts it, slowly taking it from Hob's hand like he's not quite sure it won't bite him. ]

[ Once Dream accepts the cake, Hob smiles once more and turns back to the stove to serve up his own hotcakes, giving them the same treatment, then turning off the heat before taking a seat at the counter. Some syrup is added, then it's passed to Dream. ]

So what were you doing last night that was somewhat productive?

Traversing dreams of all varieties of the winter celebrations.

[ he takes the second plate faster this time with a wry look to Hob. he brings it over to the dining table for them both. ]

I was once more examining the limitations that have been placed on me, trying to determine if they had relaxed or otherwise changed in my time here.

[ When Daniel enters, Hob doesn't seem to mind any waiting at all. As far as he's concerned, this is to cheer up Daniel, so he's not about to be annoyed at the man. ]

Not at all!

[ Hob remains behind the bar as Daniel takes his seat. ]

You mean, what are we having. I recommend we start with this bottle of whiskey I found.

And have they?

[ With Dream assisting with the food, that allows Hob to pour himself a cup of coffee and bring it with him. For Dream, he sets down a glass of orange juice. Perhaps Dream will have none of the food, but Hob still goes through the motions. ]

As far as I can surmise, they are unchanged and I am still as limited as when I arrived.

[ he gives Hob a small nod when he brings the orange juice. ]

Thank you for making this morning meal.

You're welcome. It's alright if you don't want to eat it. I guess I was just in the mood to cook.

[ Given the abundance of ingredients they have to use, cooking is a decent past time, even if Hob is still no gourmet. ]

I'm sorry to hear you haven't made any progress. It must be frustrating. I wish I could do more to help.

Excitement for Christmas morning, perhaps?

[ another wry little smile. ]

Though my efforts have left me somewhat drained, as well. This meal and your efforts are most welcome.

Perhaps.

[ Another smile and Hob begins to cut his food with his fork. He's glad the food might help Dream regain his energy, if that's the case, but if Dream asked for something else to eat, instead, Hob would head right back into the kitchen. ]

How will you be spending your day?

[ Since the attack, things have started to settle down. There was some worry for awhile with Vanessa's disappearance, but she was found and has returned home. No doubt she'll want to connect with all of her friends and let them know she's okay.

Hob still requires some rest, but he's awake more hours of the day now and is moving around the flat as much as possible to get his strength back. There's supposed to be a party in a few days, and he knows Loki must be looking forward to it. Hob wants to be well enough to attend and get in at least a dance or two.

When there's a knock at the door, he goes to answer and smiles at the sight of Ethan standing there. The man did say he wanted to visit, and Hob was wondering if he actually would. ]

Ethan, hello. Come in.

[ Hob will step aside to allow the visitor inside. ]

[ Dream starts to eat as well, small bites and mostly staying clear of the whipped cream and chocolate bits to start with. ]

I have no definitive plans this day, other than to pay call to lady Vanessa. You seem to be well on the mend, yourself.

Hob continues to move his fingers against Loki's hair, enjoying the soft texture and the waves that slide through. It's hard to believe no one has ever said that to him before, but Hob knows Loki would not joke about it. He can't help but think Loki must have felt very alone, even if he was a god and a prince among others.

He eases Loki's face closer with his touch and presses a warm kiss to Loki's lips. Hob would really love to keep on kissing him and show Loki just how enamored Hob really is with him, but that day will come.

A sigh, and Hob opens his eyes. "I'm tired. Will you stay here for awhile?" He likes how warm and comfortable Loki is in his arms, even if he'll be asleep.

I am. Practically good as new.

[ That might be an over-estimate, but Hob is definitely getting there. ]

How is she doing?

Practically ... likely not.

She has improved, thankfully. Though ... I believe her recovery will take some time yet.

[ Hob frowns softly. ]

I don't really understand what happened to her.
