around the city;

[ cyno isn't the type to be able to sit still, even when there's little to do, when the city is quiet.

so he doesn't. he spends his mornings jogging around the parks, before working out at the gym, and grabbing a bite to eat at his go-to restaurants: a shawarma place, and a sushi restaurant among his favorites. normally this might be where he would enjoy his time at a library, if he had one, instead he spends it exploring, often backtracking the same old places in hopes he'll discover something new, something he overlooked. he doesn't. but that doesn't keep him from trying.

in the mall, he's currently skulking around the game store, peering over the many card and board games, as well as stuffed animals and other interesting looking toys. he's found a lot of gems in this place, okay?? anyway, he's holding the box of a game called "candyland" right now, frowning thoughtfully when he's snapped from his thoughts by the sound of approaching footsteps. hello, friend. he's still holding the candyland box. ]

training;

[ though running and working out at the gym are very good for keeping him fit and in shape, cyno doesn't neglect his training.

in the middle of any of the parks, you might find him working in the grass, sweat slicking his skin as he whirls and lunges with the wooden polearm that kaveh so kindly provided him with. the weight and balance are excellent, almost as good as his staff of the scarlet sands, and cyno moves fluidly with it. his leaps and strikes are powerful, but elegant, and his body shifts confidently, with the poise and grace of someone quite used to what they are doing.

breaking for a moment to catch his breath, cyno runs a hand back through his sweat-damped hair, and quickly pulls it back into a messy tail to get it off of his shoulders and neck. care to join him? ]

fun and games;

[ at the edge of one of the parks, cyno is sitting at a small table, people watching. people watching, and playing games. solitaire is one he's learned recently, to keep himself occupied when others aren't available to play, but it's always more fun to enjoy a game with someone else. the spirit of friendly competition!

he perks up when he sees you walk by. ]

[ he asks, completely deadpan. ]

[Well, true to Alhaitham's word in a few days he feels ready enough for strenuous physical activity. He drops a pin to his usual start only a block away from his apartment for Cyno to join him. He won't wait long, of course, but he's sure Cyno wouldn't make him.

He's scrolling through his phone in the meantime, dressed down in simple running tights and a spandex shirt with his headphones in their usual place. The Walkman in his pocket is currently off so he can hear the approach.]

[Cyno's not the only one who does their best to get a good training regiment in. Though there isn't much in the way of crime or super-villainous activity, with all the crazy happenings here in this city Fumikage figures it's good to keep on top of his own training. Especially since he's still working on powering up Dark Shadow's abilities.]

[As he makes his way through the streets to find a good place to train, he spies a familiar figure training nearby. He watches as Cyno goes through his own training routine, and doesn't speak up until the man has taken a pause.]

You're moves are quite good, Cyno-san. You train a lot, don't you?

[ no, cyno doesn't make him wait at all, of course, he's right on time, bright and early and bushy-tailed, as it were. he approaches, dressed for running as well, in shorts and a black tee. nevermind that it's getting chillier by the day, but he's quite resistant to temperature, and besides, they'll be running anyway. ]

Hey.

[ cyno wipes his face with a clean rag to clear away the sweat, pushing the damp hair from his eyes. the sight of a familiar face brings a warm, if muted, smile to his face. ]

Thank you. Yes, I do. I don't want my skills to dull while I'm here.

[ it's important, he thinks, to be ready for anything. ]

You can join me, if you like.

[Alhaitham looks up and offers a nod before slipping his phone into his pocket. He points ahead.] I usually start that way for about seven blocks before taking a right for seven more and then circle back around. Or you can just follow me.

[Fumikage understands that urge. But even as trained as he is, he can tell Cyno is also a warrior in his own right. He nods at the offer, stepping forward.]

I'd be happy to. I was looking for a place to practice my skills as well.

[As he steps forward, he dons his black cloak, allowing the thick material to cover his whole body. It seems like a regular piece of clothing (and for the most part, it is), but he does it with a purpose, in the same way one might unsheathe a sword or ready a piece of armour.]

While I don't have a weapon of my own, I do have my Quirk... if that's alright. Otherwise, I do know some fighting moves.

[ of course we're not going to Talk, are we. that's fine. cyno might like to, but he also knows alhaitham well enough to know it wouldn't work out, and honestly, it probably wouldn't help, either. cyno is here just to be here. silent support! ]

That sounds good. I'll just follow you, if that works for you.

[ and they're off! ]

[They're not gonna talk!]

Fine. [Then he shifts forward on his foot and then starts off at a steady jog, letting Cyno fall in line with him.

It's going to be a very quiet and focused run if Alhaitham has anything to (not) say about it.]

[ cyno indeed is a warrior - his training never ends, and combat is his single greatest skill, he thinks, aside from.. you know, nerdy hobbies. there's a reason that everyone in sumeru fears the title general mahamatra. ]

[ training alone has value, of course, but training with another person is always better. the unpredictability of an antagonist can hone your skills in ways that simple repetitions never could. yet cyno tilts his head, even as he turns toward fumikage. ]

Would you like to learn? How to use a weapon, that is.

[ talking is healthy, alhaitham..

at any rate, cyno is perfectly fine with this being a quiet and focused run! as they jog together, cyno keeps quiet, instead enjoying the light burn in his limbs as they go, down streets and around bends. ]

[ Tighnari has come to the park for one thing and one thing only - samples. Of course that's why he is here. On his knees, digging through dirt to get to various root systems and the like.

Cyno doesn't even need to approach Tighnari. The fox can hear him just fine. ]

I'm not answering that.

I'm board.

[ he'll supply the answer for you, tighnari, he's just that nice of a guy. ]

[Training with others was always a valuable resource, if one was able to. It's why the Hero Program at U.A. High School encouraged working in groups; heroes could work solo, but they also excelled when a part of a team.]

[The question makes Fumikage perk up, turning a wide-eyed look to Cyno.]

You could?

[He sounds surprised by the offer, but also... there's obvious intrigue in his voice.]

[ Cue Tighnari throwing a clump of dirt at Cyno for that bad joke ]

I could, yes.

[ cyno's expression warms. ]

It's the least I could do, after you helped me, hmm?

[ cyno won't forget the bravery and kindness fumikage showed him, after all. lifting the wooden polearm kaveh made for him, cyno offers it forward for him to take. ]

I don't have access to anything but a polearm right now, so we could start there.

[ noooo he ducks out of the way. ]

Didn't like that one? Hmm. I'll think of something better.

[But what if he doesn't!

And he won't, for the entirety of the twenty minute run. He maintains a steady steady pace, a little slower than he normally would when he's still nursing head wounds but enough that there's the burn of a well-achieved workout by the end.

They make it back to the spot they started, and Alhaitham slows to a stop.]

Cyno. I'm working. Maybe you should too.

[ AND NOT JOKE AROUND!? ]

I was only doing what any pro hero would do in the same situation. But I would be happy to learn from you, Cyno-san.

[He's modest, but eager for the offer! When Cyno offers the wooden polearm, his eyes widen a bit more, before he nods and accepts the polearm.]

That is fine by me. I am happy to learn any proper weapon training; my experience with weapons is more... aesthetic than practical.

[Read: He likes to collect fake swords but never actually used one.]

[ it's a good run! once alhaitham begins to slow, cyno does as well, and once they stop he begins to stretch. ]

[ he can joke and do other things at the same time?? he's a MULTITASKER. ]

It's healing. [Alhaitham nods once with acknowledgement.] Tighnari's made good use of what's available in absence of his usual tools.

[ this is the face that kaveh is making. yes, this is it. this is the entire tag.

he's also carrying an entire, rolled up chain-link fence. this is just his life now. ]

No, Cyno. I don't know what. What did it say.

[ a nod. ]

I see. Well, you're very good with your spirit friend, but it never hurts to know how to use a weapon or two. I've mastered many, so I could teach you several kinds, if we ever have access to them.

[ for now, though, cyno approaches, and carefully moves fumikage's hands until he's holding the polearm properly, showing him how to grip it. how to move it. ]

First, you'll need to get used to its weight and swing.

[ and so they begin! cyno shows him how to hold his body, how to move his feet, how to swing the polearm and learn its balance. ]

Tighnari's very good at what he does. I'm glad he was able to help. [ wife guy gonna wife guy. ] I also.. want to apologize.
