i know this is very late, i was traveling! please feel free to ignore if you prefer to move on <3

It takes all of her will to keep from skittering back further into the room when he barrels around the corner as well. But she manages to hold herself still and steady as he does. She only scoots back enough to give him room to be closer to the hallway.

She tries not to think about how there's really nowhere else for her to run.

The footsteps are coming closer. Her breath is coming in short little huffs, but she's doing her best to keep them quiet. Then she realizes that the sound is coming from somewhere else--somewhere closer. Was this a mistake? Should she have kept going? There's no going back now, so she just does her best to make herself as quiet and small as possible.
