patpat geto...

[ Yeah, that's about what she expected. It gives her no comfort or relief to share this information with someone else. Especially not the guy who carries the weight of his failure to save one of her own. A failure he was set up for from the start by Tengen. If it was only him or Gojo, she would have fought to save Riko no matter if it branded her an enemy. But she accepted she couldn't beat them both, and in doing so gave up without trying. She regrets it more and more as time goes on.

Tengen's demands have been met for a thousand years, even if it meant the sacrifice of a handful of girls to sustain their technique. All out of fear that their evolution could make them an enemy to humanity. But isn't continuing to live fueled by the history of others, their potential history, already worthy of being called an enemy?

Yuki has always thought so. If she couldn't kill Tengen, she would destroy the world they cultivated in the last thousand years. She would uproot the concept of cursed energy itself and make no place for Tengen in the new world. She can't save the vessels, so she will live for them and be their vengeance.

Carefully, knowing she's had too much, she sets her hands on the bar and uses it as an anchor to stand up. She's a little wobbly but not completely uncoordinated, and she doesn't have to step more than once to take the towel out of his hand and pad it over his bloodied palm.

Riko isn't there either. I don't say that to comfort you. It's just true.

[ Nothing can comfort the ugly truth so much of their foundation was built on. Yuki is different from Geto in one respect: she always knew the dark heart of Jujutsu's world because she was raised to merge with it. He was exposed to it in a thousand cuts. ]
