City: The City

WHO: Tsunayoshi Sawada ([personal profile] theskyaccepts) & You
WHAT: Exploring the City
WHERE: Convenience stores, Bowling Alley, Park, Just Around
WHEN: Throughout July
WARNINGS: n/a, but will be updated if needed

A. Convenience Store

[Tsuna's been here for, well, a couple weeks at least.

Things haven't really gotten any better. Still no answers. Still super weird. He's at least around people and starting to make friends but a small community doesn't quite combat the vastness of the City. Don't get him wrong, he's still grateful.

But being on his own again is bothersome. He misses his friends. For all their chaos, they were always around. And they aren't not. The silence gets to him.

To combat this, he wanders. Never too far from the apartment building but enough that he can start getting his bearings. He's got at least one route that he's certain of, to the convenience store on the corner. It's familiar enough and he can at least get some food there.

And so he's in the quiet aisle, looking at the frozen food and trying to make a decision. There's a basket beside him with a few things of cup ramen in it. It's pretty obvious that Tsuna's not a cook.]

[B. Bowling Alley]

[Tsuna doesn't have the best memories of bowling alleys. The last time he was in one was probably way back when he was forced on that Blind Group Date with Longchamp, and well...the less said about that the better.

But it's new and it's different and well, nothing's really stopped him in this place before.]

We can just...play?

[He's standing at the end of the lane with a ball in his hands. Does he even know what he's doing?]

[C. Park]

[Tsuna is in a quiet part of the park, ideally away from obvious public spaces.

He's staring at the rings on his fingers, almost concentrating on them. It's like there's something blocking the way he usually accesses his flames. He knows Natsu's still in there, but the little lion can't get out. Which is too bad. He'd like a familiar face.

But the voice in his head that sounds suspiciously like Reborn is yelling at him to train and so that's what he's going to do. And so he focuses, snapping into the Hyper Dying Will mode, a brilliant Orange flame appearing in the centre of his forehead. And then there's a moment of panic, because his Gear hasn't activated. And all he can do is stare at the rings on his hands.]

Hie! Why...why isn't it working?

[D. Wildcard]

Well .... I am quite strong. It's what I'm known for. Not to put too much on it, but my strength is quite legendary on its own.

That is not the case here. While I am still strong, I am nowhere near the terror that I was. [ dimitri tilts his head thoughtfully. ] It has its own merits and drawbacks. I can now handle fragile things, for example, which was such a problem before. I would normally break them or destroy them inadvertently.

But now I have to get to know my body again, and figure out what my limits are. [ he gives him a rueful smile. ] Just in case.

There are many reasons. And to be frank, everything from the silliest to the worst has come to mind; I've long stopped entertaining them because it was causing me distress. I don't know why, and I don't know how they've done it: that's the bottom line.

And it is very strange to know it is being done to everyone. That takes quite a bit of effort to guarantee it to all.

[ how can the city check every single one of them and determine that they can't use their powers? it's just beyond him. ]

I understand that feeling. The ability hasn't been 'taken away', at least, not technically; but it's also rendered useless enough to be worrisome.

[ dimitri sighs. ]

I'd keep track of any changes, just in case. We ought to know when our bodies are being altered without our will. It is bad enough that we're here.

[ he tries to smile at him encouragingly. ]

As a rather smart friend of mine said, you are still yourself even without your strength. It just means that we'll have to help each other in order to ensure our safety here.

If you need anything - company, or aid - you can always message me. My name is Dimitri. I use the same name over the network, too.

You're very welcome.

Is there a reason for the number?

[ that can't be his age? he looks even younger than he is ... ]

Is that so? [ dimitri sounds amused as he says it. ] Everyone's so creative with their names on the network. I couldn't think of anything nice, and so I figured I'd just stick with my name.

It's not how we would normally do things, back in our world. A network is rather unheard of.

Not be on the internet, [ dimitri says evenly. ] My world isn't advanced enough for such a thing. Where I come from, the church controls the printing press and we send letters to each other by messengers across the land.

[ so! medieval. ]

[ dimitri laughs softly. ]

I imagine so. If this world is familiar to you - then you're likely way ahead of me in terms of ... time.

It's rather amazing to me that there are so many futures out there. It gives me a lot of hope for my own home.

[ dimitri nods. ]

I have. But I can't say it hasn't been fun along the way. There are plenty of modern conveniences I've never had that I wished we did, back in our world.

Well, the electric kettle is very useful, [ dimitri says thoughtfully. ] A washing machine, and a machine that dries, is also ingenious - it cuts through a lot of the hard labour of taking care of your clothes. A dishwasher is also quite helpful in the kitchen.

A lot of things that seem to be quite commonplace with everyone is new to me, and very interesting because of that. I feel very spoiled having this experience, and I'm sure I'll have difficulty returning home and adjusting once more.

Certainly. But my roommate and I, although we like the convenience it presents, would rather learn how to cook - it's always a lot better to figure out things by yourself without the help of an appliance, especially for something like cooking.

We're trying out a lot of the vegetables and fruits here that aren't familiar to us as well. Our culinary adventures have been quite exciting. [ also daunting, just trying out new food and new everything in a foreign land. ]
