The biggest thing is that Dark Shadow gets tired in the light. So to help him recover, I tend to keep the blinds closed and keep things rather dim for him. Though, when company is over, I can keep the lights on so that we can see what we are doing, but if you are wondering about the blackout curtains that is why.
