[ Clearly he's not doing a great job at hiding it, and Yuji shakes his head as he tries to force a little bit of a smile. This is all a little overwhelming, and while he's doing his best to handle it... Maybe he's not the best at facing his demons, literal or otherwise.

Scratching the back of his head, he huffs a little, awkward laugh. ]

I'm kind of... Lost?

Most of us feel like that when we arrive. [ and even after they arrive ] We don't know much about the place or what is going on, after all.

[ He glances over, sheepishly. ]

Oh, there is a way--

[ kaneki reaches for his communicator ] People who arrive to this place all have one. We use it to talk to each other, kind of like a forum. If you have people you know here, they are most likely using it too.

Oh! [ Yuji is immediately reaching down, fumbling for his phone. If they're here, he can find them, and he immediately feels a sense of utterly relief at the notion that they might be here.

He glances back up at Kaneki. ]

It's that easy? Do people make posts often?

Yes, I would say so.

[ kaneki smiles a little, mostly so he doesn't look so nervous. ]

This is a very empty place, even though it's a big city. So we make sure we share information or just talk to each other through the network. It's easier.

[ Yuji nods along, getting a little more excited. ]

We do that a lot, here. The network only has people in this place, but we also get newsletters from... [ what does he even call them ] --whoever is doing this experiment.

[ his smile drops a little ]

But it's not all bad. People here are very nice, so even if your friends aren't here, you can rely on others. We are all in the same boat, after all.

Although we don't really have our abilities at one hundred per cent, it seems. [ kaneki learned that the hard way ]

Well, it seems normal for people to arrive lacking part of their abilities and powers. It's not just you.
