[ says kaveh, who had seen the subtle shift of alhaitham's body language like a message slipped beneath a door, and who had seen the careful nonchalance of tsuruno's ownership of guilt, and finds himself turning to the only bastion of sanity here. it's unfair, kaveh thinks, for him to put this on tighnari. he wonders if cyno is alright tonight, or if he's also fighting a compulsion tonight. if tighnari had been stretched thin helping him and now with an entirely other debacle.

kaveh's sleeves, which hadn't been particularly long before, find themselves rolled up. ]

I may not be as well-trained as Collei must be, but I've a pair of hands and I'd like to help where I can. Is there anything I can do, Tighnari?

[ Tighnari has no context for any of this. So all he can do is rely on Kaveh or someone else to explain all of this to him at some point. Not right away, but he does want details so he can effectively treat everyone here. ]

You can help by first laying out everything that I need. The potions don't have labels yet, but I know them by color. Just setting everything out will be enough for the moment.

[ it's something to do, kaveh thinks. the gratitude swells; it eclipses a little of the worry, the helplessness, the fury and the grief. kaveh finishes rolling up his sleeves, and falls to his task. he doesn't know tighnari's kit as well as perhaps cyno does, but colour matching and ensuring that they're laid out properly is a task that needs very little thinking. his hands begin to work. ]

You've created quite a few potions since your arrival. [ is what kaveh notes, with something like fond exasperation. ] You've kept busy. How have you found the tools and materials available to you? And which colour helps with blood loss and bruises?

Of course I have. I wasn't going to be idle the entire time I've been here. I thought I should make good use of my talents.

[ Because this is what he does. Takes care of others. ]

My follow up question is... Are you sure you want to know how I have found out what to use and how to use them?

[ he's been ingesting substances until he figures out what works and what doesn't. :/ ]

Anyway. The teal bottle will help with blood loss. Bruises should just heal on their own unless they are internal.

No, I can imagine how you've been figuring it out. I know you, Tighnari. You would put your own health at risk, though you'd still be considerably more reasonable about it since you know the sort of potions you need to make.

[ still, kaveh shakes his head. he makes certain to put at the forefront the teal bottles from tighnari's satchel. ] Is Cyno alright? Or was he able to escape the worst of all this?

[ See, Kaveh isn't wrong here. He's absolutely right that Tighnari tests things out on himself. It has to be that way. Who else could document the results accurately? Who could treat him the way he needs to be? ]

He did turn into a savage jackal man-beast. It didn't last overly long.

[ kaveh's expression falls. ]

I detest this city. [ he says, quietly, through the bite of his teeth. ] They seek to strip him of his humanity.

He was more like an overgrown puppy than anything else.

[ In other words, don't feel too bad for him just yet Kaveh ]

Did he enjoy it?

He certainly enjoyed keeping me pinned down as though I was going to up and disappear at any given moment.

[ kaveh laughs a little at that. ]

That is remarkably like him. I'm glad, then - he was a jackal once before in the greenhouse as well.

But you hadn't been there, and I think that must've made all the difference for him, this time around.

As much as I want to say that you are wrong, you're probably not. I know Cyno wouldn't think of ever hurting me - not matter what state he finds himself in.

[ Tighnari simply trusted that would hold. ]

Faith, then, and well-deserved for it.

Is it really faith or just experience? There have been plenty of times where Cyno could have lost control of himself. Yet he doesn't. He's proven himself time and time again.

Couldn't it be both? After all, don't all of us believe that the sun will rise again and again, despite the only proof that we have is that it rose yesterday?

I suppose it could be both. Though I believe faith is blind more than evidence based.

I think faith requires certain things to be observed before you can commit to it, even if it is merely the strength of your feeling. Feelings can be observed as well, after all.
