Having someone so confident and clear-eyed nearby is doing wonders for his morale, even if bolstering it wouldn't have been very difficult in the first place. When he says things like, "Just seeing your face is enough for joy to sprout endlessly in my heart", he's being quite literal. He's also aware that it's a losing battle to make anyone believe that. ]

Never was the strategist in my squad, though. Forward thinkers, planners... I leave these things to others. I'm much too optimistic to think of the worst.
