Tessa bites back a smile at being called 'ma'am.' Technically, she's a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, etc. But she still feels too young (even at her tender age of 146 years) for 'ma'am.' She can hear both Jem and Will with their smart comments about her being called such; the corners of her lips twitch despite her best efforts.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too, Doc," she says. "My name is Tessa Gray. If you'd like, I'd be happy to show you how to bowl? It's easy to pick up once you get the hang of it."
