[ Tighnari sighs. Then he scratches at his ear and gives it a tug. Deep breath, Tighnari. Kaveh is here. They are having a meal. He should just make the best of it, despite his own irritations. ]

He's right. You really shouldn't overload yourself with work.

I'm hardly overloaded. There isn't enough work here to be overloaded. Though I'd appreciate if this city would stop interrupting my work schedule regardless. There isn't enough time before the resets take too long.

[ kaveh looks. he smiles, with a grateful nod - ] Please. What vintage? Though I suppose there's no point in asking that here.

No, there's no point. I have no idea. Nor can I attest to its quality, but it is what it is.

[ wine is wine. kaveh will have to make do with it even if it's less than ideal. while the naan toasts, cyno sets to pouring them each a glass of wine, delivering them by hand, first to kaveh, then to tighnari. ]

And you say that, but you just said you're exhausted, and you clearly look it. When was the last time you slept?

[ EYEBROW RAISE. ]

[ Kaveh... Cyno isn't the only one looking at you with suspicious eyes. So is Tighnari. ]

Maybe I should send you home with something to help with the exhaustion, Kaveh. Clearly you're not getting enough sleep.

[ kaveh takes that glass with a grateful nod. grateful, because he needs a sip or two to take the edge off of the stern line of tighnari's response. nope, kaveh thinks, wincing - he needs another sip. he takes it. ]

Please, you know me. I'll sleep when I've everything well and finished. It's just - [ kaveh looks, a little helplessly, between cyno and tighnari, ] I suppose Alhaitham and I not being on speaking terms is not unusual, but even I recognise that it's worse than normal.

Doctor Daan's prescribed me melatonin, however.

Yes, we know you, which is exactly why we worry.

[ just because it's normal for you doesn't mean it's healthy, kaveh?? but he sighs. that's a fuss for another time. for now, he's more worried about kaveh's state of mind. he didn't want to bring up alhaitham ungently, but as kaveh has opened that door - ]

And.. yes, we've noticed. [ a glance to tighnari, and cyno looks back to kaveh, his brow creased with worry. ] You know you can rely on us, don't you, Kaveh?

Cyno's correct. We know you nearly better than anyone else here.

[ Sleep is important. ~~Ask our group chat about the importance of sleep!~~ Now Tighnari doesn't really want to bring Alhaitham up either. Not when they are supposed to be enjoying a meal. The talk of the man at the table will likely sour the mood.

So Tighnari is going to just address the sleep issue. ]

Which means, yes. You should rely on us. So if we are telling you that we are concerned, then do not so easily dismiss us.

[ kaveh looks. ]

I don't - [ he begins, and then deflates. of course he does. ] Do I?

[ dismiss them, that is. the sinking feeling in kaveh has him think that perhaps the answer has always been a yes. he shakes his head. ] No, both of you are correct. And I'm blessed to be able to rely on both of you. It's just - there's not much anyone can do about this particular situation, that's all.

... [ meekly: ] is that being dismissive?

[ cyno looks more than a little sympathetic. he doesn't want to upset kaveh, or make him uncomfortable, but.. he certainly does have a problem when it comes to dismissing concerns about himself. they all do, to a point, really - but that's all the more reason to support one another. ]

.. a little bit.

[ he says, honestly. gently. ]

Whether or not anything can be done isn't necessarily the problem. You can still talk to us, even if it won't change anything. Letting it out relieves stress.

[ His ears stand straight up. Oh... Oh they had both misunderstood. ]

Well yes, there is that. Though I was more referring to the sleep issue. I think that it is a given that Cyno and I will always be there for you when you need it, Kaveh. However, I am worried about how all of this is affecting your physical health.

[ kaveh looks up. tighnari's ears stand to attention, and suddenly kaveh wonders if he ought to be prickling up as well.

that being said - this is tighnari after all. he smiles. ]

Well, I suppose I can ask for help on that end as well, shouldn't I? The doctor here - Doctor Daan, he prescribed something called melatonin to me, though I realised fairly quickly that I was supposed to have known what my regular sleeping patterns were before I started taking it. If you've anything that can help with sleep, Tighnari, I'd be welcome for it.

And I suppose on your part, Cyno - [ kaveh grins, ] you wouldn't want to hit me over the head and help me pass out from that, would you?

[ oh. well. yes. ]

Mm. Tighnari is right. And I'm glad to hear you're working on it, but..

[ he frowns, because he knows you, kaveh. ]

In order for the medicine to work, you still have to make the choice to lay down and go to sleep.

[ you have to make the effort to actually fall asleep, not stay up late saying "ten more minutes" on this project, or that one. ]

[ Tighnari heaves a sigh. He's behind Cyno, rubbing at the base of the man's neck. Just for something to do with his hands. ]

Melatonin isn't a bad start, but you have to be careful. The body produces it naturally, so if you rely on it then you can really hurt that process. What I have to offer is something similar.

[ tighnari rubs the base of cyno's neck. kaveh observes; a smile plays along his lips. ]

I will. If I take it up again, I'll consult with you as well to see what makes best sense for the process, and I'd like to try your remedy as well. I do want to sleep. It simply eludes me at the best of times.

[ ... kaveh leans in. ] Now, how has it been for the two of you together? And I can hardly believe that I had to find out via a bulletin post, of all things.

[ cyno relaxes beneath the warm press of tighnari's hand, his eyelids lowering a little, like a dog being scratched behind the ears. kaveh's answer seems convincing enough, so cyno will trust him. he hums softly, and nods.

.. then blushes deeply, his cheeks darkening. ]

Ah, it's been .. [ and then, a soft smile. ] .. perfect.

Good. I'll send you some things that can help. Just make sure you set aside at least six hours for just sleeping.

[ Giving Kaveh a look. Like he MEANS what he says.

His fingers don't leave Cyno though. It's funny to see him get embarrassed. ]

We're sorry, Kaveh. It's not as though we meant to keep it from anyone. More like, I believe we thought it was just. Obvious.

[ tighnari's hands rest against the back of cyno's neck. cyno melts like kulfi beneath the sun. for a moment, kaveh wonders if he ought to look away, if something so tender and intimate is really meant for kaveh's eyes. slowly, he shakes his head. ]

Well, when you put it that way, and couple it with today - it does seem a bit obvious, doesn't it? [ tighnari and cyno have always been affectionate, after all, but affection has degrees. there's something charming about how open they are. kaveh's heart swells with affection. ] I'm happy for the two of you. I really am. And despite us being trapped in this city, I rather think there's no better time for this sort of thing. Your lives are very busy back in Sumeru; here, the two of you can take your time.

[ tighnari's hands are exquisite, and cyno is soon lifting one of his own to rest it over his partner's, his palm and fingers rough and callused. being affectionate with tighnari is easy - it's always been easy, even before they were this. ]

Leave it to you to find the bright spot in a dark sky.

[ cyno chuckles, squeezes tighnari's hand. kaveh's boundless warmth is calming, warming. ]

You make a fair point. [ there's a ding from the kitchenette. ] Oh, the naan.. I'd breader get that.
