When Loki leans a bit closer, Hob does notice, his soft brown eyes looking from the cube to Loki's face. From his perspective, the light shines much more brilliantly in Loki's blue eyes than his darker ones. It's almost as though the same light were coming from within his Asgardian friend.
With some glancing back and forth from the object, Hob's eyes do meet Loki's for a moment, a small smile pulling at Hob's lips when Loki leans away, appearing a bit embarrassed. A gentle blink puts Hob's attention back on the cube for a few more seconds and then he sets the object down carefully on the coffee table.
"Perhaps it will work, eventually." He tries to give Loki a little hope. They could all use more of that. As hopeful as Hob might be, even he has sullen moments from time to time concerning their stay here.
Finally, Hob reaches for his own tea and sits back more properly to drink.
