[MINGLE, ESPECIALLY TO NEWCOMERS] ROOFTOP FESTIVITIES!!!

WHO: All!
WHAT: Rooftop festivities!
WHERE: On a rooftop of an office building in the second open district!
WHEN: 8/14, evening!
WARNINGS: alcohol, tba as it goes

Banner displayed inside the train station, outside city hall, and on the most used residence buildings.

Follow the arrows.

So you're unaware. Maybe new. Or maybe you just didn't care the first time you saw it. That's fine. Between the banners hanging around key areas, and the flyers quickly drawn up in a similar fashion scattered across the city, it's hard not to know something is going on -- and there's helpful arrows, chalked on building walls and the streets the day of the party, to let people know where to go.

The Rooftop

A splendid scene awaits those who travel heavensward. Fairy lights connect the corners of the roof access building to metal poles at the corners of the building itself, lifted by cylindrical supports where needed, each one held straight by pots filled with well-packed dirty and stone. There's multicolored stars hanging from some of the lights, while various painted flowers hang on others, and what greets the ears first is some royalty free party music played from a CD player off the the side.

There's a long folded out table in the center for those who'd like to share cuisine, just set and serve yourself! Nearby is a space for Daan to do some bartending as well, a man who can make a multitude of cocktails and mocktails for those who want something less alcoholic. Also, pints of various ice cream flavors in a cooler!

Don't worry -- they won't have any odd effects on them, Don verified the lack of them herself. Not all of them are normal. Think loaded baked potato weird.

For those who'd like a quieter space, there's beanbags and a swirly, fuzzy carpet to sit on more away from the center of the party area. This'll be a great time to play some games, such as truth or dare, spin the bottle, and... whatever else you play at parties. Get to know your fellow man and such. Play the violin.

Naturally, no party... hosted... by Don Quixote would be without a space to fight, if one wishes to show off a little! It's also taking place on a swirly fuzzy carpet, just so no one smashes their head in, and there's a neat little banner hanging down from a string of lights that says thus:

WIN THREE MATCHES AND A PRIZE AWAITS THEE!!!!!!!
- NO KILLING
- HANDS ONLY

What the prize is, no one knows. But come find Don Quixote with your battle scars and she'll grant it -- and stick around a while, 'cause this party's gonna end with a bang... that is, with homemade fireworks donated by "a friend" through Junpei.

Anyway, have fun!!! Share words about your worlds!!! The society your characters are from, the cuisine they've brought, how they're working out in the city -- help the new kids along, too. There's more vets here now than there were a few months ago, after all.

[ Hob smiles and thinks he knows what she means. The party can be all of those things and more. ]

It is. A lot of people must be nervous about being here. It's good if they relax for a night. The city might have provided a few spots, but entertainment is still kind of lacking, in my opinion. Not even a single library or a theater.

[ Even a few books to read would make Hob a little happier. ]

I'm Hob. What's your name?

[She can't help a little bit of a laugh at that, making a quiet 'ugh!' noise as well. Maybe she's trying too hard, but it is something she's been sorely missing as well.]

Yeah, not having a theater is pretty bad but not having a library? What were the city planers thinking?

[It's half a joke, since no one is even sure what the point of the city or their arrival there even is, she can't rule out some giant experiment about the lack of distractions or reading material. But it REALLY sucked.]

But yeah, I think you're right. Everyone needs to be able to relax sometimes, but especially here it's... it feels like it's wearing down on me little by little, I guess? Maybe that's a weird way to put it, sorry.

[But she's trying to smile again and not look TOO nervous at introductions, giving a little nod to be polite.]

Althea. It's nice to meet you, Hob.

Either they don't know their subjects very well or they're torturing us on purpose.

[ Given that the city is otherwise a comfortable prison, Hob's definition of torture might need a bit of work. He's certainly lived far worse than this in the past. ]

No, I think I understand what you mean. Every day ends up feeling the same. It sort of.. saps your energy.

Nice to meet you, Althea.

[His first comment, though likely a joke, does get a bit of a frown and sigh.]

Considering the bank thing... I think the second might be more likely than the first. Either that, or they're terrible at being comforting.

[She's lived in... technically worse conditions in the past, but she'd still rather be there than here right now. Perhaps it was the uncertainty, combined with the emptiness, but she found herself nodding along with Hob's description.]

Yeah, it really does feel like that. Hopefully not 'literally', though.. I guess that would explain everyone's powers being on the fritz and could serve an explanation for why people were brought here...

[Wait, this is a party, she's not supposed to be thinking about this stuff! She quickly shakes her head to clear it and tries again to smile.]

Right, sorry. I guess that's another reason why a party is so good for people to relax for a while, huh?

[ Even when things are going well and they're afforded a bit of distraction, it can be hard not to think on their current situation. ]

No, it's my fault. I guess I can't help going back to it.

[ He's just as guilty for dwelling on the negatives, though he really tries not to. ]

It is nice, seeing everyone get along and meet each other.

I suppose it makes sense that it's hard for all of us to not think about the situation.

[Though her statement was accompanied by a quiet huff of a laugh, she still couldn't stop the brief expression of annoyance by what they were all going through.

Still, the next comment gets another smile and she turns to glance around at the room at large, leaning back against the balcony.]

Yeah, it's great. I was worried people would be fighting each other constantly when I first got here, but thankfully everyone seems more focused on figuring out what's going on.

Fighting wouldn't get us very far.

[ He wonders if she's used to people not cooperating where she comes from. ]

So far, meeting so many interesting people has been the one good thing about this place.
