[ Kai is already heading in the direction of the new person when he realizes who it is, but doesn't bother to stop before headbutting Seimei's leg impatiently. He of all people should know what to do here. ]

What do bars have to do with anything? Pet me.

[ He almost never tries to take a commanding tone with Seimei, largely because he's fairly sure that the onmyouji would make him regret it even if he got what he wanted, but at the moment the cat brain has taken over, and the cat brain demands cuddles.

When none of them seem instantly forthcoming, he knocks his head into Seimei's shin again. ]

Ah, you're looking very cute today.

[ Obviously he's gotten into something, but it doesn't seem dangerous as far as Seimei can tell. Nothing more than a bruised ego later, surely. He dips down and runs his hand along the length of the cat's back and then scoops him up, holding the little furry form out in front of him at arm's length to examine him. ]

Sure, I'll pet you. But first you have to tell me what you found.

[ He makes a pleased sound as he's gathered up, but when Seimei does nothing but leave him dangling he begins to wriggle impatiently. ]

Found? I don't know. There was some ice cream I guess.

[ The only thing he can think of that's at all out of the ordinary, but he's not entirely sure why Seimei cares. Then again he's not really sure why Seimei does anything ever, so what else is new. ]

It was colorful. Tasted weird.

Ohh?

[ Well, that explains everything. He keeps holding Kai up above his head, examining him in the light for any weird traits he might see. Obviously, there's no physical signs on the cat, and there's not enough spiritual energy to pick up strange magical traces either. Seimei tucks Kai into one arm, ruffling his head like he's giving the spirit a little cat noogie. ]

You should watch what you eat. What if you end up finding something dangerous?

[ That is a very suspicious sound coming out of Seimei, but Kai doesn't have time to focus on it when he's finally tucked in close. He makes a pleased noise, though it turns into something mildly indignant when his fur is ruffled rather than petted properly. ]

What's dangerous? I'm made of stone.

[ Well. Sort of. But he's too busy batting at Seimei's hand to get it where he wants it. ]

[ One might think Seimei is an experienced cat owner if they saw him effortlessly avoid Kai's demands while still holding him up in one arm. He brushes his head and back with light motions, but he keeps skirting away to keep his attention. ]

You don't know what kinds of things exist in this city. What if it was made of a magic substance that turns you into something else? You could turn into one of those statues in the park with no spiritual power left.

Like that would be anything new.

[ Something Seimei of all people would know full well. But it's seeming like Seimei is not going to indulge him at all, and with an annoyed sound Kai lets himself go boneless in his grip, dangling his full weight out of his hands. That'll show him. ]

There are worse things.

[ Seimei takes the sudden challenge of having to juggle a furry amorphous liquid relatively well, only grunting a little as he adjusts his grip to scoop up the mass of untamed cat, shifting him from one arm to the other like he's pouring sand between his elbows. ]

Tsk, and there are better things. You don't want to be trapped somewhere, do you? Think of all you'll be missing.

[ As a compromise, he does scratch Kai under the chin, using his wrist to try to hold the cat's head up. ]
