[ kaneki is not selfish at all. Or well, not in the normal sense of the word. He calls himself selfish and sees himself as selfish, but that comes from a place of guilt and - let's be honest - trauma. He thinks wanting to live is selfish because of what he has to do so he can be alive.

He doesn't argue back, though, because he never does. Kaneki lowers his hands and he looks down at them for a moment, unsure how to answer any of that. Because none of those questions have easy answers, unfortunately. ]
