[ kaneki can't have tea nor alcohol (plus, he is a minor!!!), but he figured drinking together should be the best thing to do, somehow. If he is stealing a bunch of coffee, might as well offer some to the person he is stealing with. 

Kaneki decides to sit down as well, not too far away but giving the man some polite distance ] 

... I'm no one. [ he thought ] I just got into college, and I was studying literature. I worked at a coffee shop. [Speaking of which, kaneki reaches for a can, which he takes a sip of. He actually makes a small face. Canned coffee is really not that good ] I'm a bit of a coffee expert. [ an elitist ]
