Though the man does understand what she's trying to indicate with the phone - that she answered the questions like that - the sight of it does finally make him realise something.

For some reason the girl isn't talking. He hadn't thought about it at first, far too busy trying to soothe her nerves, but now he's looking back on it.. Daniel is pretty sure the girl hasn't even said a single word to him.

He can't know for sure why that is. Maybe Nill has a problem with talking, the way he did when he first showed up here, or maybe she's just shy. It would explain why she seemed so startled earlier.

But even if it is just shyness.. Maybe the advice he's got in mind might still be good to give, just in case. Maybe it's an easier form of communication, even if the muteness might be voluntarily for all he knows?

"Ah, by the way.." He starts, slowly, not wanting to overwhelm her. "If you want to say anything, you can use these."

Daniel pulls his own phone out of his pocket too - as if to show off that fact.

"Do you find it hard to speak? I had trouble with that too when I first showed up here, so I used these instead to talk to people."
