[ Two months is a long time, Daniel thinks; a long time to be alone, a long time to not know what is going on, and a long ass time to still have very few answers. Daniel thinks he'd probably go nuts if he was here for that long without finding out a single thing. Daniel thinks he will go nuts. He's on the precipice of wondering how Louis isn't more bothered by it, but then catches himself. It is Louis, after all. ]

Shit, okay..

[ The fact that Louis is making a conscious effort not to stare at him is weirding him out more than the alternative would. You've got to understand that the only contact Daniel has had with any vampire in the last ten years has been Armand, and Armand has never cared to make himself less unsettling around Daniel to the point where vampires have become this strange, ethereal and otherworldly creatures in Daniel's mind. The humanity in Louis' posture and the grace he shows Daniel in trying to be more familiar is a kindness, but it juxtaposes so starkly with the little freak Daniel has gained most of his vampire knowledge from that it ends up just being... odd.

But then Daniel thinks back to that hotel room, not for the first time either, and recalls the way Louis had done the same thing there; tried to soften the blow, to make Daniel comfortable, to make him listen. He swallows thickly, and tries to do what he'd done back then; settle and listen. ]

Nah, I was just-- [ Getting into a fight with the landlord of the apartment I haven't paid for in a month and trying not to get kicked out of the public library again? He shakes the thought loose, praying it was fleeting enough that Louis won't invade his thoughts like Armand does. ] I was just in Mission Creek. I don't remember falling asleep but I must have, and when I woke up I was here, in the train car. The trains in Mission Creek don't look like that.

[ He exhales, bringing a hand up to scratch his thumb nail in the hair below his bottom lip. ]

You said what this place is; you think this is like, some kind of social experiment or something? The City isn't real?
