( really, he’s used to this sort of response from humans. xiaobai and her family had always been a little more reserved, but all he has to do is think back to when she had brought him along to that anime convention… what an exhausting ordeal that had been, even held separate from those other spirits trying to take the Heavenly Pearl away from him at the same time. and he hadn’t even been trying to capture their attention like he does now…!

xiaohei doesn’t respond in any way until don quixote mentions something to eat. he blinks, and his gaze sharpens in intensity. yes… going through his stomach is still a short-cut to earning at least a modicum of trust from him—it’s how xiaobai and her mother had first calmed him down, after all.
he lowers himself into a crouching position as well, watching as she unwraps the piece of jerky. she extends it, slowly, and he responds by batting out a right paw, swatting at the jerky to see if she would drop it so he could snatch it for himself.
does he want the food? yes. but he’s not really willing to eat it from her hand. and he had just barely resisted the impulse to snatch it from her with his tail… )
